"So you are trying to tell me that when I have a table that needs drinks, another table that needs to have an order taken, another table that wants to hear the specials for the third time, a manager that's asking me to move some tables around for a party of 15, a dishwasher that wants me to polish glasses so that he can have his rack back and a chef that wants me to run some food to the bar, I should take some of my time to check and make sure the prices on your check are correct?"

So you are telling me that ALL that other stuff is somehow MORE IMPORTANT than someone's money? THEN FUCK YOUR MONEY, BITCH when it comes tip time. FUCK YOU AND YOUR MONEY!!

"That is not 20 seconds - that is running to the hostess stand, grabbing a menu and looking through the 5 page menu to match your items to the prices in the menu."

First off, if it's at a restaurant that has a TO-GO menu, you can keep one on YOU personally at all times in your apron pocket.

Let's say if you don't work at a restaurant that has a to-go menu, you could do it in steps such as during when we are waiting for our appetizers and entrées those prices already ordered.

As far as 20 seconds, think about A. What prices are listed we ordered in only a party of 2(which soft drinks are in most restaurants are not listed and a lot of restaurants don't list their alcohol prices either.) B. Think about how many items you have to check. If you only have to check 4-5 items, that's really not even a minute of finding the prices. You should know where things are on the menu at the restaurant you work at. Think about it, first page should have appetizers and salads/soups. Things like that.

Also, if the menu is on the internet with the current prices that is, you can print one out to keep on you at all times as well, which probably if they have that, they probably would have to-go menus most likely.

You don't have to wait until the very end to check the prices.

It is the server's job. When management sees someone ignoring their job, unless they're really lucky and have a really nice manager they will be fired soon enough. Then they will have no income.

So yes, it is more important than at most 20 dollars of someone else's money. Hell, your job is worth more than 100 dollars of someone else's money, isn't it?

"they might also make occasional mistakes,"

It's not a "MISTAKE" if you don't even ***TRY*** to compare the menu prices to the check. That is called LAZINESS and being UNCARING!!!

It's the server's job to *CHARGE THE CUSTOMER CORRECTLY* just as it's the server's job to get refills, napkins, etc. It's ALL apart of the server's job. WHY can't you see one is NOT more important than the other? They are both EQUALLY IMPORTANT!!

That someone else's money can also be the server's money. You aren't looking at it from your money standpoint either. If you don't care about our money, WTF should we care much about yours?

No lets get this straight. As a server tips are how we make our rent. To tell you the truth. If i am running a large section with multiple tables. And i get bitched at for refilling a drink with out asking first. which is required by managment. Then i am going to assume you are looking for a reason to get food drinks and desserts for free. I will then let my managment staff know this. I will also focus my attention on the guests that are acting as such "Guests", Its nothing personal its a business decision. Secondly In your previous posts you became irate that you are not asked if you would like a different drink before refilling. So if i charged you for two drinks you would not get upset correct? Also how am i to be unobtrusive and concise on your service if I am to enterrupt you ever time you run out of drink? To ask. 1.Would you like a refill. 2.Is this going to be the same drink. 3.It will be a moment before i can get all the way back to the drinkstation to get fresh tea and ice, Is that allright? 4. would you like more sugar

"As a server tips are how we make our rent."

We pay your tip with how much you TRY your best, so you are at OUR MERCY SELFISH ASSHOLE!!

If you want us to *********CARE************** so much about your PRECIOUS RENT, YOU NEED TO CARE ABOUT WHAT **WE** PERSONALLY WANT AS ***INDIVIDUAL*** CUSTOMERS, since you are receiving an ***INDIVIDUALIZED** TIP!! WHY act like everyone is the same and that everyone wants things the same way? I am not sure why you are in a blog about overcharges, but talk about refills? Can you explain?

"If i am running a large section with multiple tables. And i get bitched at for refilling a drink with out asking first. which is required by managment."

It's not required not to ask at the ***********GREETING*************** if the customers want that type of service. If they don't, your manager won't tell you that you can't serve them the way **THEY** said they wanted to be served. A good example, if I came into the restaurant, you greeted me and I told you "I don't want refills without being asked, I want to be asked EACH TIME, please", do you honestly think your manager would FORCE this type of service on me? YOU KNOW HE OR SHE WOULDN'T, so WHY NOT FIND OUT FIRST YOU UNCARING SERVER? You honestly think your manager will make you disobey a customer's request to potentially lose a REPEAT customer(WE ARE REPEAT CUSTOMERS AT A LOT OF RESTAURANTS). Thousands of dollars we have spent over the years at a lot of the chains. I could show you all the transactions on our credit card bills to show you. Some restaurants we have been going since we have been married since 2002 even. You honestly think your manager won't abide by if the customer says they don't want that?

"Then i am going to assume you are looking for a reason to get food drinks and desserts for free."

WHY? That has ZERO to do with that I like drinking different drinks and get TIRED of the same drink all the time. I am NOT looking for that. If anything, today, I didn't like a drink, I paid for an almost $6 drink I sent back and told the waitress I just didn't like it, but I would pay for it, which I was charged and I tipped on that drink I drank a couple of sips of. My point is, this has ZERO to do with money. It's all about giving the *****CUSTOMER******** what *******THEY********* want for **********THEIR******* money as it SHOULD BE!! Do you like paying well for a service you don't want? I bet you don't, nobody does, so don't expect a customer not to be pissed off a you for ****ORDERING******** for them, because that is what that is. NO manager told you that you couldn't ask that question if they would like refills without being asked throughout their service. I bet you, you truly might find that some people will tell you no.

I want to pay for EVERY SINGLE THING!! It's all about I want things to go the way ****I****** want it, NOT the way the SERVER WANTS IT OR ASSUMES THE WAY THEY THINK I WANT IT!! It's not your place to order for me. I get a menu for a reason, to order for myself.

"I will then let my managment staff know this. I will also focus my attention on the guests that are acting as such "Guests","

I am acting like a guests, someone that is supposed to be able to have a right to choose if and what they want to drink. THAT IS WHY WE FUCKING GETTING A MENU YOU IDIOT!! YOU DON'T GET A MENU TO GET THAT PRIVILEGE TO DECIDE WHAT GOES IN MY BODY!!

"Its nothing personal its a business decision."

It is personal when you never once told me you were going to do that. It's personal when you bring up RENT issues. It's personal when you want someone's money that legally we don't have to pay you when you don't want to satisfy us on a personal level as it is SUPPOSED TO BE!! YOU ARE STRANGER, HOW DARE YOU FUCKING ORDER FOR ME ASSHOLE!! FUCK YOU!!

"Secondly In your previous posts you became irate that you are not asked if you would like a different drink before refilling. So if i charged you for two drinks you would not get upset correct?"

You can't legally and no one ever did, because a refill is just a glass filled with a beverage, so if soft drinks and tea have free refills, that means ANY FLAVOR can be FILLED AGAIN(hence REFILL) with a DIFFERENT FLAVOR. They are the same price, so legally I have NEVER been charged for 2 drinks you idiot!! If anything, a lot of servers leave off soft drinks on PURPOSE to get a better tip. You don't know that already?

"Also how am i to be unobtrusive and concise on your service if I am to enterrupt you ever time you run out of drink? To ask. 1.Would you like a refill. 2.Is this going to be the same drink. 3.It will be a moment before i can get all the way back to the drinkstation to get fresh tea and ice, Is that allright? 4. would you like more sugar"

I WANT you to interrupt me you stupid idiot!! You show you DON'T *************CARE*********** about what ******I******* PERSONALLY WANT then WHY should you get a good tip. It shows you don't care and are VERY LAZY not to come to *****ASK******** permission from the people that are paying you if they want a refill or not. As I said before, the best servers are the ones that ask at the GREETING so they know to serve that way or not. I would 100%, MILLION PERCENT RATHER be interrupted ANY DAY than for someone to just bring me something and I have sent people back before. Sometimes I just wanted something different. Even my husband has wanted something different like after 2 diet cokes, he wanted a glass of water, not more carbonated drinks. He also has had one coffee, then switched to diet coke. I have switched MANY of times from dr. pepper to coke to tea, etc. You waste my time getting me something I don't want, more points off that you showed you don't care. I WANT TO BE INTERRUPTED DON'T YOU GET THAT? I WANT TO SEE IF YOU ARE GOING TO *****CARE****** about what ***I***** want and NOT WHAT OTHERS WANT!! Your job is to satisfy the all the people in the party, not what majority of people want, what does that person want at the table is what you ask yourself. You are getting an individualized tip, you should satisfy what THEY want only since it truly is honestly ONLY THE CUSTOMER'S DECISION!! WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TO DECIDE WHAT I WANT IN MY SERVICE? What an UNCARING HUMAN BEING YOU ARE!!

All you got to do is ask if I want another coke and then I will say "No, Can I get a dr. pepper this time?" I don't expect you to ask is it going to be the same drink or more sugar you idiot!! It's NOT YOUR PLACE TO ORDER FOR US!!WE ORDER, NOT OUR SERVERS!! IT IS NOT REQUIRED THAT YOU CAN'T ASK US IF WE WANT THAT TYPE OF SERVICE AT THE GREETING!! HOW COME MOST SERVERS DON'T DO THIS IF THIS IS SO POPULAR, HUH? Obviously, they LEARNED they WASTED TIME AT TIMES GETTING UNWANTED ITEMS!! I don't blame them for not risking wasting time. I don't even care if I want the drink, points off for YOU ORDERING FOR ME, because it's not your place, it's ONLY THE CUSTOMER'S ONLY!! WE GET A MENU, DRINKING THE DRINK, AND ARE PAYING FOR THE SERVICE, NOT YOU!!

NO, it is called "We trust Corporate and the people who maintain the computers to have the correct prices in there at all times."

Get a grip on reality, jeez!

NOT it's called being ********LAZY AND UNCARING*********, because you aren't supposed to trust ANYONE BUT YOURSELF FOR THINGS YOU HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OVER GIVING THE CUSTOMER THE PROBLEM!!

Wow. I'm glad you live in Louisiana and will most likely never eat at my restaurant. I bet you're a real picnic to wait on.

If your money is so goddamn important to you, then continue to check what you are charged against your menu. The servers are too damn busy to do your accounting for you. If you bring a price discrepancy to our attention, we would be more than happy to fix it. But with over 1,000 buttons on our POSi computers, we can't POSSIBLY make sure all of them are 100% correct. That's Corporate's job. And when I have a 10-top who ordered drinks and dinner and desserts on a busy Friday night, I don't have the time to sit there and compare each item to the freaking to-go menu. And if I attempted to do that, people like YOU would bitch that I was spending too much time away from the table.

It's YOUR money. If you're so freaking concerned that you might be paying 20 cents too much for an item, CHECK IT YOUR DAMN SELF.

Ugh. People like you should never eat out, ever.

Seriously, you say "The servers are too damn busy to do your accounting for you", UHHH, ******REMEMBER WE ARE ********PAYING********YOUR ASS IDIOT, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND LAZY ASS, UNCARING EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING!!

It's not accounting IDIOT, it's **COMPARING NUMBERS IDIOT**.

A CHILD CAN DO IT!!

$6.99 vs. $7.29, WOW, you can't see those are prices don't match without knowing accounting or even adding anything? YOU SERIOUSLY!!

"But with over 1,000 buttons on our POSi computers, we can't POSSIBLY make sure all of them are 100% correct."

I NEVER ANYTHING ABOUT A FUCKING COMPUTER, DID I?

"That's Corporate's job."

The computer prices are the corporate's/manager's job, but the prices on MY CHECK are the **SERVER'S JOB** to determine whether they match or not. Then, get a manager to fix it if one or more doesn't match.

So quit mentioning the computer, because CUSTOMERS DON'T FUCKING ORDER FROM A COMPUTER SCREEN IDIOT AND WE GET HANDED A PIECE OF PAPER, NOT A COMPUTER SCREEN IDIOT!!

YOU have the opportunity to *READ* the check *********BEFORE******** you decide to hand it to me you UNCARING, SELFISH ASSHOLE!!

"And when I have a 10-top who ordered drinks and dinner and desserts on a busy Friday night, I don't have the time to sit there and compare each item to the freaking to-go menu."

If you want to *MAKE* the time YOU WOULD. YOU HAVE THE TIME. If you even have time to chit chat with the customers, you definitely have time even more then.

YOU **DECIDE** to GIVE A ******CARE******** about WHAT YOU ARE HANDING PEOPLE THAT IS IN YOUR 100% CONTROL OF SEEING ******BEFORE*****WE GET THE CHECK, UNLESS YOU don't hand us the check, which is very rare that our server isn't the person that last sees the check.

"If you're so freaking concerned that you might be paying 20 cents too much for an item, CHECK IT YOUR DAMN SELF."

FUCK YOU, YOU UNCARING BITCH!! TIP YOUR DAMN SELF YOUR OWN MONEY FOR YOUR OWN WORK WITH YOUR LAZY ASS, UNCARING ATTITUDE!!

It's ******NOT********* the customer's job to check it ourselves IDIOT. WE ARE **********PAYING************YOU************, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND IDIOT!

YOU ARE SO SELFISH AND LAZY ASS, it's ridiculous.

"Ugh. People like you should never eat out, ever."

WHY? Because we expect our servers to do ********WORK******* and actually GIVE A *******CARE********** about our dining experience if they expect us to *********CARE********** about their tip.

In order for us to care about you, you have to care about us. Your attitude is you care about JUST YOU, WELL FUCK YOUR TIP THEN!!

Actually, a to go menu would be useless for this purpose. In fact only the exact menu you used when ordering would work as it may be the only incorrect menu in the place, missed at changeout. So why don't you just keep it at your table handy for your server and give it to them when they bring your check to verify. Or you could practice caveat emptor.

"Actually, a to go menu would be useless for this purpose."

HOW if the prices are the same as in the inside menu STUPID ASS, HUH?

"In fact only the exact menu you used when ordering would work as it may be the only incorrect menu in the place, missed at changeout."

When the two times this has happened, we knew it and noticed, which we showed it to the server and knew what had happened *BEFORE* we presented the issue. My husband had a newer menu, I had an older menu at Chili's. Another time, they had an old drink menu on our table, but not the other tables and I knew from going to this other restaurant(not Chili's) that it was the older menu on our table).

So honestly, you are 100% WRONG!!

"So why don't you just keep it at your table handy for your server and give it to them when they bring your check to verify."

I keep the menu at my table for myself. WHY should I have to tell them how to do their job? That's not my job to be their COMMON SENSE BABY-SITTER. It would be me like saying "Make sure I have fries on my plate now" if I ordered fries. LIKE DUHHHHH, this is COMMON SENSE this is YOUR JOB!!
