Servers are 100% RESPONSIBLE for ANY OVERCHARGES THEY HAND YOU!! springs1 September 26 2009, 02:26:24 UTC

"8. a server would most likely get in trouble BY MANAGMENT (who is always on the floor) for going and doing that kind of price checking."

For starters, if a manager would be like that, I wouldn't work for him or her, because that's STEALING if they don't want you to check over them, because we have caught a few times UNDERCHARGED prices(one time this year a margarita at a Mexican restaurant out of town we went to was a QUARTER cheaper on our check than the menu price when I ordered the margarita "AS IS" from the menu.

That's not true a lot of the time that the managers would be mad at you, because the managers WANT the customers to come back. I had one lady manager at Fox and Hound gave us half off a sandwich due to a 30 cent overcharge. The manager even THANKED ME for showing her the error. Isn't that something? The managers want you back so they can make dollars and dollars off of you. To make a customer mad and never want to come back over a few cents or a couple of dollars is a bad business decision. If a customer has to show the error, the manager would be madder that they had to deal with that with the customer finding the problem. The managers want things to go well and not mess up so they don't have to be giving comps and having complaints from customers.

They don't want the customers to write corporate or complain, so honestly, they would APPRECIATE that the servers would have caught that error, honestly.

Also, it's YOUR MONEY on the line, so you decide if you want a good tip or not. Especially, restaurants that have to-go menus, there's NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER a reason to have a wrong price given to a customer, unless you truly made a REAL mistake that you actually took the effort to check the menu with the check, but just missed it. We had a 30 cent overcharge at Outback, which there they have to-go menus. That shouldn't have happened. That was SO PREVENTABLE!!

"as a customer it is YOUR job to review the prices that you saw on the menu.'

NO, as a SERVER that is getting **********PAID************ by the customer, it's YOUR JOB as a server to compare the prices on the menu to the check in order to receive a good tip. If MY SERVER brings us our check, she or he is the LAST person to SEE it, therefore makes it their fault.

We aren't supposed to get a menu ourselves and compare each price. That's NOT OUR JOB as customers, because ***WE ARE PAYING, that's right PAYING for the SERVICE YOU, that's right, YOU are supposed to PROVIDE US WITH!! We are supposed to relax and not have to check over a DAMN FUCKING THING!! WE AREN'T YOUR BABY-SITTERS!!

MOST servers don't even apologize, when it IS their fault that overcharge was brought BY THEM(unless the check was brought by someone else, which is rare, but has happened a few times before). The server is the LAST person under normal circumstances to see the check. The customer is NOT supposed to baby-sit YOUR UNCARING, LAZY ASS to show you "HEY, I GOT AN OVERCHARGED PRICE." THAT'S YOUR JOB!!

The server has 100% control over noticing if the prices are wrong or not just as the customer, so since NOBODY IS PAYING US, it's NOT OUR JOB TO FIND YOUR MISTAKES!!

WE ARE PAYING YOU!! You aren't paying US, are you? THEN HOW THE FUCK CAN IT BE OUR JOB? WE ARE PAYING YOU, MOTHER FUCKER!! YOU SHOULD BE PAYING US TO FIND TO SHOW YOU THE WRONG PRICE THAT YOU WERE TOO UNCARING AND VERY LAZY ASS TO FIND YOURSELF!!

Are you too lazy to check the prices yourself when YOU go out to eat? I bet you don't check each and every price, do you, but you expect us to, right? If you don't, what a HYPOCRITE telling us we need to check our prices!! Don’t you expect that you can TRUST your server?
