OMG It has been forever since I posted here. First I moved (more about that later), then I got obsessed with The Sims again and was playing it nonstop, now I'm obsessed with reading and do that nonstop, then this past weekend was the National Volunteer Conference (also more about that later), and I have a lot of APO events to look forward to and get ready for.
First thing’s first - I moved over the past month . . . back into my parents’ house. I needed to save money and my cutting out rent, TV, internet, gas, and electric bills; I should be able to save about $800 a month. Except that I won’t be saving it I’ll be putting it towards credit card debt. I am going to try and save a little. It depends on Primerica. If I can start making a butt load of money with them, then I’ll be able to save more. Now, the being back in my parents’ house isn’t so bad. Their pretty respectful of my space and I can pretty much come and go as I please so long as I’m careful not to wake them should I come home late at night. And its going to work out well for them cuz I want to cook dinner for them a couple nights a week and they never get good meals like that. I actually don’t know what they eat most nights if they don’t go out somewhere. It’s mind boggling.
So APO stuff. This past weekend was AMAZING! It was my first NVC and I hope I never have to miss another one, ever! I did Basic Skills: Presentation and Facilitation and I learned a lot. I also passed the courses, which means that now I can take content training on any LEADS course that I want. I probably won’t get an opportunity to take content training until Nationals, but that’s ok with me. I have a semester full of things to take care of and events to go to. I just hope I have money for everything. I thought I would be going to
Section 30 (in Ft Collins, CO) and Nationals (in Boston, MA), but I will also be attending Section 26 (in somewhere, NE). I’ve got a section staff meeting this Saturday, two section meetings in September (one in Ft Smith (I think) and one in Hope), most likely another Region Retreat, and a host of other things, not to mention the fact that I’ll rigorously planning the Section 33 conference to be held Feb 28 - Mar 1, 2009. Location TBD - TBD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are we having such difficulties with the freaking location? The conference is only 6 months out and we still don’t have a freaking location! Why?! Because the hotels are too expensive or some of the parks don’t have enough space or people won’t get back to us. GRrrrrrrr!
On a not so frustrated note, I’m in love with the author Jasper Fforde. I read The Big Over Easy and am now reading the second installment in the Thursday Next series called Lost in a Good Book. Both books are awesome and I recommend them to everybody!!!
Ok, I have to go now - tootles!
