Summary: Leviathan and Rydia have at it to see who's stronger.

“Are you truly one of us?” Leviathan boomed when she turned her back on him.

Rydia couldn’t count the number of times she’d wondered that, herself, but the Eidolons were all she had, and they’d raised her and taught her as one of their own since her mother had died and she’d fallen overboard, into the ocean.

“I am.” She turned back to face him.

“Then how can you consider leaving us? How can you return to the world topside, to the world of humans when your place is here with us?”

“They need me.” She’d thought about it long and hard. “There’s a battle waging, a battle that could prove the end of the world topside and this world beneath. I must help them if I am able. I can’t turn my back on them.”

“You will not be allowed to return.”

The finality in his voice tore at Rydia’s heart.

“I earned everything you taught me,” she said, unable to keep the urgency from her voice. “I trained and fought and bested each of you. I have as much of a right to be here as you do.”

“Treason!” he bellowed.

Footsteps thundered in the halls outside his throne room. All four doors slammed shut. There would be no call from help…for either of them.

“You know how I feel about you, Rydia,” he said, descending the steps from the dais in his human form.

She’d known for a long time. “I know you’re not loyal to the queen.”

“The queen understands me,” he said, spreading his hands. “It’s not like she hasn’t taken summoners as lovers. Their vibrancy, their passion…it’s difficult for any eidolon to ignore.”

“Sleeping with you doesn’t prove my loyalty,” she quipped. “It only proves you’re ruled by your desires.”

“A battle then.”

“What kind of battle?” She didn’t trust him. He was a wily old man.

“Simple.” He shrugged. “Your magic against my might. No summons.”

“No help from outside.” Even now, his guards were banging at the door.

“Agreed.” He held out one hand to shake.

Rydia reached for it, but felt the waves growing and swung away, raising a lightning spell even as he transformed into his serpent form. The lightning struck where he had been, dealing no damage, but it did clear a path for her through the waves.

She warped as the first wave crashed, warped again in time to miss the brunt of the onslaught. Residual tide washed across the throne room; the current made it difficult for her to keep to her feet.

“Bastard.” She bit back a curse when he rose and circled, striking with his tail from the front while he struck from behind with his mouth.

She ducked and whirled, fleeing his reach more times than she could count. She grew dizzy twirling and dancing away, but she caught him with a bolt of lightning, too weak to do much harm. Movement sapped her strength. Waning strength sapped her magic.

Leviathan had planned this more than just the one night it had been since Cecil and the others had been in the Land of Summoned Monsters.

She back stepped and lunged sideways when he struck again, buying herself time to catch her breath. “Blizzaga,” she murmured under her breath.

The spell hit him head on, freezing the water around him, trapping him in place. If she could feed the spell, keep him frozen long enough to hit him with the most powerful lightning spell, he was hers…on a platter.

He roared in anger, chanting the most powerful of his spells while she fortified the ice.

“Damn.” She hadn’t thought to freeze his mouth.

The wave slammed into her with enough force to steal consciousness almost instantly. She was faintly aware, as she succumbed, of the wall rising up to meet her, far too fast for any hope of meeting it and living.

There was a moment of pain before darkness. In the darkness, she thought she screamed.

The pain was still there when she woke, not as bad, but almost as incapacitating. Or maybe it was her whip, with which Leviathan had bound her. He sat back on his heels when he noticed her awake.

“How long?”

“Too long,” he said with a wicked grin. “I claim my prize, young mortal.” His clawed fingers peeled back the top of her dress. “Mmmm. You’re a tasty human, Rydia. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before.”

She struggled against her whip. It wasn’t over. It couldn’t be. Thorns cut into her wrists, scraped against her arms.

“Relax.” He ripped the front of her dress, exposing her breasts. “And enjoy it. I’m going to.”

“You dirty old…”

His mouth dropped to her breast, teeth scraping at the nipple. Rydia dragged in a gasp, unprepared for the rush of excitement that spread throughout her body. Her head flopped back.

Guards ringed the room.

“You cheated!” she shouted. She had frozen him completely. Ifrit shifted into the shadows when she looked at him. “You promised…no help from outside.”

Her panties hardly provided a challenge to him. His touch was wet and cold when he reached between her legs.

“No! No!” She fought to press her legs cold.

The first sensation, when he reached inside her, was of pain, the second, of pleasure. Tears filled her eyes. She wasn’t going to lose her virginity to a monster.

“Asura!” she commanded. If he was going to cheat, all rules were off. She could only hope beyond hope that the results she got were…

Light flashed through the room. The Queen of the Eidolons appeared beside her. Healing magic-powerful healing magic-washed over her.

“Thundaga!” Rydia commanded, closing her eyes against the impending flash. She was close-too close-to live, but dying was better than being raped by Leviathan.

Magic grabbed her, whisked her from the center of the room. Rosa cradled her, covered her with a robe, while Cecil freed her from the confines of the whip.

“Winner takes all,” Asura announced, “Victory to Rydia.” She offered her husband a withering glance before returning her gaze to Rydia. “The power of the eidolons go with you, Daughter, and wish for you a speedy return.”
