Okay, I know this comment is coming over a year later, but I was trawling the tags on susancaspian and had to say something - this is a concept that has crossed my mind more than once, and you wrote it beautifully. This is aching and wonderful all at the same time and I think you encapsulate just what this pairing has to offer, attraction and stubbornness and equality and loss all at once.
