Springkink FAQ: Prompting

Apr 06, 2009 17:17

I thought it was high time we had one of these as certain questions come up time and time again, and it'd be good to have one place with the answers. Feel free to comment with any further queries you have and I'll update the post. A separate post will be made for questions about claiming at a later date!

I'm sorry, I feel stupid, but I still don't get the numbers. Do they determine when the responses will be posted? So if you choose 30 any responses will be posted on the 30th? Are there any guidelines? (Such as don't submit all your prompts for the same day or anything?)

Really sorry, first time participating. ^^;

The numbers do refer to the day of posting :). 1 - > 1st, 30 -> 30th, etch :).

There aren't any real guidelines with regards to what days to choose; it's just as good to randomise as to do one prompt a day or whatever you prefer.

About crossovers, what if the fandom itself is a crossover?

For example, the series The King of Fighters is basically a crossover of several fighting games, and so its characters appear in those other fighting games as well. For another example, the videogames Viewtiful Joe and Lucifer's call have character(s) from Devil May Cry as guest star(s).

Basically, if two fandoms actually canonically share the same characters to begin with, is it ok to simply list the fandoms without the "Crossover:"?

If the characters canonically appear in a crossover game, you don't need to list 'Crossover'.

e.g. in Kingdom Hearts, Cid from Final Fantasy 7 is one of the characters in the game, so the prompt would be listed as:

Kingdom Hearts: Cid/Leon etc etc.

However, if you were using the crossover game's universe but including characters who weren't in the crossover game as well, (e.g. Vincent from Final Fantasy 7 isn't in Kingdom Hearts), then you still use the Crossover tag, e.g.

Crossover: Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy 7: Vincent/Riku etc etc

Hope that makes things clearer!

I'm sorry, I feel silly commenting about this here, but I attempted to join this community about three days ago, but I don't think it accepted my request. Is there a reqirement or did I pull a stupid somewhere?

If I'm reading correctly then I have to be a member before I can post any prompts, right? So sorry about this.

Edit: Before I can post TO any prompts, I mean. Darn LJ erasing my words!

Prompts can be submitted by anyone, members or otherwise; the joining is only necessary for when you're posting fic/fanart, and I'm trying to chase up getting memberships let through by animadri as I still have no control over posting access.

Fret thee not :)!

*stupidly trying to do the math* That's... what, 9:00 Eastern Standard Time? Got a bunch I need to come up with pithy quotes for still :B

What kind of limits are there on the type of pairings we can submit? I tried to look through but I didn't see an answer.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=12&month=4&year=2009&hour=22&min=55&sec=0&p1=0 <- times around the world when the clock hits 23.55 in London tonight :).

As to the types of pairings, at the moment there aren't any real limits - I've seen everything from completely normal heterosexual pairings up to gay robot orgies and the occasional solo (masturbation) request. Pretty much everything goes :).

Thanks for the info and the link! Looks like there's... two hours left, now? I am pithy-quoting away, and will be squeezing my batch in right under the deadline XD
