Yeah, it's rather unfair of them -- but for me, it's also one of the more realistic aspects of canon, and intriguing as well: how do you cope with being seen as (or working with) a goody-goody when people both admire and hassle you for it?

Dee would totally open Ryo's mail, too. Things are looking beautifully complicated - and oh, JJ. Very brave of you! (Er, brave of JJ, I mean. You make me almost like him, where I found him vastly annoying and distacting in Fake.)

I have to credit fandom with steering me towards seeing JJ outside of the panels, as it were -- there have been some really nice futurefics on him (I find The Cure for the Common Cold especially fun, though there are other fics that delve way deeper into JJ's persona vs. actions). menghorde likes to point out that there's no way any of the guys could have lasted as cops if they were really as immature as they appear "onstage" in the books.
