Although it had been a relatively straightforward mission, Aya had been caught off-guard and ended up a bit more injured than usual. Ken had been the one to rescue him, and when the members of Side B had returned to the flower shop, Kurumi and Yuki had volunteered to treat Aya's wounds (Ken was adverse to Kurumi seeing them right after a mission, but he knew that she felt more worthwhile when she could help with the first-aid). Ken had really wanted to be the one to treat Aya, but as he had killed the targets, he had to clean up first.

After washing himself quickly, Ken began heading to Aya's room, and when he reached it, he saw Kurumi leaving. "Kurumi-chan, how's Aya doing?" he asked.

"Good," Kurumi answered. "Yuki's still with him, so he'll definitely be fine."

Ken smiled. "That's nice. Thank you, Kurumi-chan." He lightly brushed past Kurumi and entered Aya's room, where he saw Aya and Yuki sitting on the bed, with Aya shirtless and Yuki finishing tying a bandage on his left arm. Aya also had a bandage on his cheek and a few on his shoulders.

"Yo," Ken greeted. "You seem really good at first-aid, Yuki."

"Kurumi-chan helped, and a lot of what I know Alison taught me," Yuki answered. "Besides, Aya wasn't that injured."

"You thought otherwise when you saw him be attacked," Ken teased (to which Yuki blushed). He paused for a moment, and then said, "Yuki, can I talk to Aya privately?"

Yuki grumbled under his breath, and then said, "All right, Ken." He whispered something to Aya, and then stood up and left Aya's bedroom, closing the door behind him.

"You shouldn't tease Yuki, Ken," Aya said as Ken sat down next to him. He paused for a second, and then added, "Thanks for saving me."

"No problem," Ken replied. "You're the reason I'm here. We share a similar burden, and I don't want to carry mine alone."

Aya touched the bandage on his left arm. "Ken…" He looked as if he wanted to say more, but could not find the words to do so.

Ken ran his fingers through his hair and laughed nervously. "When you were injured, I was just as scared as Yuki, so I guess it's unfair of me to tease him." He smiled weakly and his voice sounded a bit nervous. "I just don't want to lose you, Aya. Yuki, Kurumi, Michel, Free, and Chloé - they're all my friends. But for you, Aya, I think of you differently. I don't know if this can be called 'love,' but I can't imagine my future without you."

Aya chuckled lightly. "That sounds like love to me."

"Of course, you have changed a lot since I first met you," Ken said, wrapping his arm around Aya's shoulders and gently kissing the corner of his neck. "You're not as much of a prick as you used to be. The old you wouldn't have been so accepting of Yuki's kindness."

"Ken, you're annoying sometimes."

Ken laughed and then pulled Aya into a light embrace (Aya wasn't fragile, but Ken didn't want to irritate his injuries). Ken realized he had a lot of emotional baggage and that Aya wasn't exactly the most stable person to be so dependent on, but as long as he was with Aya, he would have no regrets.
