First of all, the pun in the title made me grin like a maniac 8DDD

I'm so glad you liked! Asphyxiation kink is, obviously, a bit of a weird'un, and I don't remember ever actually writing it before though I have pondered it; I think for some reason with Bat it just *works* though. What did Qara call it? Bat + asphyxiation = the puppy-kicking otp? Either way, it was fun.

O-oh purr. I love it when "Not My Pairing" is replaced by "O-oh wow".

And the little insights into Bat in other areas (I particularly loved attraction on that pink-haired bitch when looking at his Jinana, because. Yes. There is so much there of where I think a lto of Bat's, uh, 'issues' lie. *g*).

If I can allow one bit of criticism as well, while "smelled" and "smelt" are interchangeable, to me "smelt" has a much stronger emphasis on the meaning of "melting metal ore", so the use of the term read a little weirdly. Because it's such a powerful piece, I just thought you should know, so you can control the responses to it more completely (in case it happens with others as well).

Varin/Bat is definitely towards the crackier end of the pairing scale but Qara has been nudging me into having a sustained interest in this :).

Thank you so much for the constructive feedback! I'd been going mental trying to remember whether it was smelt/smelled and went with smelt because it sounded a bit more like the way I said it. It's a relief knowing they're interchangeable, but I've switched over to smelled to make things clearer :).

I don't know where my sudden interest in Bat came from but I'm quite enjoying it, all things considered. It had been an unreasonably long time since I had an actually-bad-as-opposed-to-antihero bad guy running around requesting I write them stories.

And I adore that icon, it's unreasonably cute considering the character involved <3!
