Title: Vocal
Author:
misuraRating: PG for rumors of improper behavior
Warnings: None - vague memory of codenames used during stake-outs might come in handy.
Summary: It wasn't so much a matter of keeping quiet; it was more a matter of yelling the right name. (Roy always cheated in these kinds of things.)
A/N: A drabble.
"The rumor that you've had sex with a woman named 'Jacqueline' while on a stake-out is probably all over Central by now, sir," Riza reported, without so much as a glance in Havoc's direction. He wasn't sure if that was meant to be comforting or not.
"Excellent," said Roy. "That should put a stop to any slander about me having an affair with some subordinate of mine. Is there any more coffee, lieutenant?"
"I believe there is, sir. The pot is standing over there. If that's all, I'll get back to work."
Roy scowled, but the moment Riza had left, he rose and poured himself another cup of coffee all the same. Havoc wondered if he ought to feel flattered that his services as a coffee-pourer hadn't been solicited.
"Is it really slander when it's true?" he mumbled, when Roy seemed to have no intention of doing anything except drink his coffee and read the report Riza had brought him.
"As neither you nor I are, at present, attached to a third party, it would be incorrect to refer to our relationship as an 'affair'," Roy informed him, not looking up.
"Then what word would you use to describe our relationship?" Havoc asked. Roy gave him a level, waiting look. "Sir," he added.
"You're my subordinate and I'm your commanding officer, of course," Roy replied, turning his attention back to the report. "Please make sure to close the door behind you as you leave."
