Summary: Hoist gets trapped in work; Grapple goes back to sulk at him for this.
A/N: Figured I'd get this done then get back to work on the Feb. 1 one that's late. Hopefully I'll have that one done tomorrow and be able to post it.

"How is the project going, GrappleandHoist?" Perceptor inquired absently as Hoist escorted Inferno into the maintenance-half of Medical. The red scientist stood shoulder-deep in a cabinet of Wheeljack's supplies. Scattered bits and pieces, strange-colored jars, and unlabeled boxes littered the work table he leaned against.

Hoist tilted his head ceilingward briefly. He really couldn't fault the scientist for the mistake, he supposed, but it did irritate just a trifle. "It is going well, Perceptor. Grapple is quite pleased and would like you to stop by sometime later to check the mirrors he's using."

"I ain't Grapple," Inferno added helpfully. "Just in for maintenance, Perce."

Perceptor froze and peeked over his left shoulder at the two of them. "Oh, my most sincere apologies for the misidentification, Inferno!"

His obvious embarrassment almost made Hoist feel bad about the brief surge of irritation he'd felt. Almost. This was at least the dozenth time Perceptor had run their names together for whatever reason.

He waved away further apologies from the red scientist and escorted Inferno over to one of the hydraulic jacks so he could examine the fire-truck's undercarriage.

When it was just Blurr referring to them as 'GrappleandHoist', Hoist didn't think much of it. When Perceptor started doing it, he began to suspect he'd missed something, somewhere along the way. While he quite enjoyed spending time with Grapple, and their shared quarters made sharing other things more convenient... He had never thought it was all that obvious, really.

As low-key as they kept it, people should *not* act as if they were as conjoined as Rack'n'Ruin. It was... rude.

Admittedly, the Constructicons had been calling them 'GrappleandHoist' for far longer than Blurr had known the two Autobots. But the Constructicons included such people as Bonecrusher and Long Haul, and Hoist would never dream of calling them polite. Or anything but rude and crude, really.

By the time he finished giving Inferno the usual preventive maintenance and dealt with an ambush by Sunstreaker, it was too late in the evening to join Grapple at the construction site. In a fit of pique, Hoist erased the order for more of Sunstreaker's special polish from their weekly supply-run list. Then he began to tidy up the section of Medical alloted to him.

Halfway through refilling his vast supply of screws, the door to Medical hissed open, and he heard a familiar tread enter the room. "Grapple! I thought you were going to stay at the construction site tonight."

"And I thought you were coming back after you took care of Inferno," the crane said testily. He stalked over to Hoist's workstation and began to rearrange it in the manner he preferred.

As Grapple rarely indulged in being a 'greasemonkey', as he put it, Hoist planned to put it back the way it belonged when he'd gotten his friend out of this current snit. "Sunstreaker demanded my attention. A recent squabble with Sideswipe left him in quite a sorry state."

The crane waved a hand as if to shoo away the very mention of the Lamborghinis. "Hoist, why don't we go back to our quarters? I made some revisions to the plans that I would like to go over."

"In a few minutes, Grapple. I think Wheeljack has been stealing my screws instead of going all the way down to storage-" The snit seemed to have blown over, so the tow-truck went back to refilling the bins of screws. There were quite a lot of them in varied sizes that a doctor or engineer found a use for, and it would never do to be in the middle of an emergency and run out.

An orange arm wrapped around him, a black hand splaying across his windshield. "My revisions, Hoist. We need to go over them."

Then he began to nibble on the edge of Hoist's arm-shielding.

Grapple was so terribly demonstrative some days. "Oh. Yes. Of course."
