Ooh, very cool imagery - the way you've written it is incredibly vivid. The description of the spark inside his eyes is particularly nifty.

Vincent has heard that a corpse’s fingernails and hair continue to grow after death.
It would explain a number of things.
Oh, poor broken Vincent - so morbidly loveable when he's hurting.

...it seems like I'm not the only one who finds it fun to poke at Vincent's misery. Which is a good thing. Well, it's probably a bad thing for Vincent, but oh well.

Sorry it's taken me so long to comment, I only just found this! Thank you for writing my prompt, it's haunting in all the right ways. ^____^

When he dreams, he dreams of a barren landscape scorched black by a dying sun. The ground is cracked and dry -- lava occasionally wells through the faults like blood squeezed from a wound.

I love the end-of-the-world imagery here, considering what Chaos' ultimate fate was to be. Nicely painted.

Chaos never speaks in anything recognizable as words -- he seems to consider human language beneath him, or he might be too old to bother to learn something so fleeting

You totally captured the essence here, and I squee on it. ^____^

And I thought the apocalyptic imagery fit in well with DoC canon, so I'm glad it worked for you. Yay for the end of the world! Or, um -- not yay, perhaps.
