Prompt: Gray-Man, Kanda/Allen: Self-recrimination - it's hard to sleep on nights like this.
“I can’t sleep.”
Kanda didn’t look over his shoulder when the bed creaked and bend down a fraction as someone else sat on the edge of it. He reached for Mugen where it rested by the bed quietly and started to draw the steel forth. “Who gave you permission to come in here?” He licked his dry lips to wet them as a red hand grabbed his wrist and the owner looked at him wordlessly. The swordsman knew that look and he didn’t want to acknowledge it. He didn’t want to think about how their strange circling about each other had finally reached a crescendo.
Proverbially they had danced too close to each other and now they either learned a way to move in harmony or tear each other apart. It had taken years to get to this point, where everything blended together until they couldn’t tell who had started what. All they knew is their footsteps were often accompanied by each other and their desperate fighting to push the other away had long since failed.
He blamed himself for submitting to it, for allowing the boy to do things like this. Honestly, he was sure Allen wouldn’t come looking for him or following him like wolf follows its pack if he hadn’t stopped snapping at him. Or maybe he still did and it had long lost its intended bite? Kanda didn’t know he just knew the kid was too close right now and pressing up against his side.
“….Its hard to sleep on nights like this. The moon looks like the moon there.” Allen breathed quietly in the stillness and didn’t say another word. He just squirreled closer and gripped Kanda’s sleep shirt desperately in his slim fingers. “Kanda, you’ve been there. You know what I’m talking about.”
He did know and he didn’t want to think about it. The exorcist had been about to doze without ever thinking about it, until the other had come in interrupting that. Now he was thinking about it. Kanda gritted his teeth and picked out the slight differences in the sky of the living world compared to the land of the dead’s pitch darkness with its shining moon. Allen had come to him because they were already inside each other’s walls and fuck that better not be trust he saw in those silver gray eyes.
That the swordsman knew of Allen didn’t trust anyone with his secrets.
The boy kept people at a distance and didn’t come ruin their possible sleep to babble about some irrational fear. He didn’t cling as if the other person was his life line or wait for an answer.
But then considering that they both had given into things, and had tangled together in the sheets before? That might be why the white haired cursed boy came to him…and why sometimes Kanda would go sit in Allen’s room. To put it mildly they had breached each other’s walls.
He didn’t want to hear what the other was babbling about. Kanda hated the weakness and fear in Allen’s eyes as he rambled on about the world of the dead and the things he’d seen.
The boy went on about blood, Akuma, the shapes blood made on the ground, the stench of death, of the war, and their role in the fighting.
He wanted to hear none of it. He knew the likely hood of either of them getting much sleep with the thoughts brought up. For once the swordsman wanted to lose himself and he cursed the boy for teaching him how to do that. He rolled so Allen was pinned beneath him and grabbed the hair at the back of his neck before he drew his head back. He heard the other’s noise of surprise as his throat was bared but ignored it.
Kanda hadn’t been bold enough to start anything between them before. It usually was Allen who led this game and he just stumbled after. The other had the knowledge he didn’t from places even Allen wished he hadn’t ever gone. He’d once wondered if his partner had ever used that information before him but knew the truth. The swordsman had been Allen’s first lover and vice versa.
For one the boy had been far too young when he’d traveled with Cross and another you couldn’t sleep with someone and stay distant to them. It just never worked and here was proof of that.
He lowered his head and slowly with hesitation captured Allen’s mouth with his own. He felt the other respond as miss matched arms slipped about his neck and drew him closer. Kanda breathed as they parted and studied the other in the pale light. As he started to think this was a foolish idea his lover drew him back down.
“Don’t think, just act. It makes things more natural and easier to-“
He cut off the other boy with another kiss quicker than the first but still as uncertain. “Take your own advice.” The swordsman rasped as he parted the buttons of the dress shirt the other teenager was wearing. He took his time so he wouldn’t rip any of the buttons off. Last thing he wanted was Allen thieving another of his shirts. Kanda still wondered why he did that when it threw more suspicion on things. Considering they were trying to hide this he’d have thought his Walker would have more sense than that.
Not that anyone in his opinion had ever accused the boy of intelligence. He heard the other reach for his shirt to help but he smacked his hands away. He wanted to do this himself instead of the tangled mess things tended to be. Kanda drew the tie from his hair as he leaned over the white haired teenager. Maybe on some deeper level they both needed to find someone like themselves. He wasn’t in the mood to consider it and never was even if Allen sometimes did.
He smoothed a hand over the other’s chest and traced the scars that littered the pale skin. Sometimes he was jealous of the marks that marred another’s skin, they were signs of progress. Scars could show you how far you’d come so you could judge how close you were to what you wanted. The exorcist breathed quietly as he studied the other’s features in the moonlight and frowned faintly. Allen had become a constant part of his life, a steady pillar that never fell despite the odds.
But all things faded and died out one day. He tried not to think about it as he pressed his lips to Allen’s own. He shut his eyes and focused on the present. Here in this room with its cracked windows and the warm body under him. Nothing else mattered for the moment. Kanda didn’t mind it this time when his partner started to undo his shirt. He was busy breaking the kiss and lightly scraping his teeth on the other exorcist’s still bared throat. He paid attention to the soft hitches of his lover’s breath.
Allen was so quiet a lover it was hard to tell what he enjoyed and what he didn’t. It was like he was still struggling to keep the world at a distance. But he failed; his body and expressions gave hint to what he would never voice. Like right now, he had a tell tale flush on his features and his slim fingers gripped at Kanda’s shirt. He was willingly submitting to the other’s grip and his silver eyes were falling to half mast a come hither look in their depths.
Kanda pressed to kiss to Allen’s collar bone before leaving a slow trail downwards. He lightly thumbed a nipple and got a ‘are you kidding’ look from his companion. It had been a curious experiment; he guessed no male was all that crazy about it. But he wasn’t going to cheat and use the other’s hot spot against him. It would too quick and over before they could lose themselves in each other. The exorcist had long since understood there was some physical needs to be met now that he’d had a taste of what it was like.
Not that he would ever admit it aloud. The swordsman felt almost spoiled as he yanked Allen’s sleep pants down to his ankles. He didn’t want to think about how annoying it would be to remove that checkered monstrosity from the belt loops of Allen’s usual day pants. Not to mention all that damn work to get those pants off anyways. Kanda tossed them somewhere before hooking his fingers in the waist band of the other’s boxers and pulling those down too. He eyed his very naked companion who mockingly wiggled his toes in reply.
“Sometime this year maybe, Yuu?” Allen remarked as he propped himself up with his elbows. He was patient sure, but at this rate the sun would be up before Kanda got his pants off. He whistled casually as he reached forward and yanked the other’s pants down. “Or you can let me help.” The exorcist added before letting out a noise as he was pushed back into the mattress. Or not.
“Give me a moment.” The swordsman hissed as he removed his remaining clothes and slipped off the bed. He had to grab what they needed after all.
“A few more of your moments and I’ll be legally an adult.” Another mocking wiggle of the toes, as he propped himself back up and snorted faintly. It wasn’t really impatience; it was more light banter to keep his mind off the thoughts of previous. That and he couldn’t resist poking at his lover. Allen made a sound as he was pushed back into the sheets yet again as Kanda rejoined him. “Nice to see you here, fancy a bit of British tai-“
“Finish that and I’ll just kill you.” He warned as he popped the cap of the bottle of oil. The older exorcist poured out a generous amount before prodding Allen with a foot. “Oi, you know what to do.”
”You’re supposed to say please.” Allen replied but complied as he spread his legs, resting them against Kanda’s hips. His breath hitched as his lover lightly prodded at his entrance with an oil slicked finger. He relaxed and watched the finger press inside while ignoring the feeling of discomfort. Normally even when he was the one receiving he’d prepared himself while Kanda watched. The exorcist had to admit that it was arousing to watch someone else you trusted and were sleeping with regularly do it instead.
He clawed at the sheets when that probing finger found that small bundle of nerves inside. Allen gritted his teeth as he tilted his head back and gripped the sheets under his hands. If Kanda kept that up he was going to explode. It was lucky that his partner was studying his expressions and moved on to slowly but carefully stretching him. He nodded when he needed too to tell him to go on.
The boy breathed as those fingers departed and he flicked his gaze to the swordsman’s face. The sight of his Kanda was enough to steal his breath for a moment. He let his eyes travel the well muscled chest with the strange tattoo, to the slim very male hips and long legs. He knew he was too attached and vice versa he had kicked himself for letting things get this far. Allen blamed himself for that final breaching of each other’s personal walls. He’d submitted to it and stopped running.
That made him guilty in his book. The exorcist lay back and gave the swordsman a quiet look.
It was all the encouragement Kanda needed. He pressed into his willing partner, quietly watching Allen’s face for any sign of pain. He rested his hands on either side of the other boy’s head and moved experimentally. Allen let out a gasp as the swordsman shifted slowly and Kanda gritted his teeth. His hair blocked out everything, but the other exorcist who looked up at him with lust clouded eyes. There was something else in there and he refused to acknowledge it’s existence.
That was a dangerous thing to accept for reasons they both understood and had paid the price for. Kanda watched Allen twist his head to the side as he rocked into him. He accepted that even though the boy was comfortable with him, he was still self conscious of what made him unique. He leaned down brushing his lips over the red skin of weapon arm. It tasted different from the rest of Allen’s body; there was a tingle to the tongue as he swept away a bit of sweat. It was a warm feeling that reminded him of the resonating hum of Mugen when it was invoked only wilder.
It was part of the charm of having the parasite user sharing his bed. He picked up the pace of his thrusts and shifted the angle a little. It was a test to see how much of a difference that might make.
Allen groaned breathlessly as he wrapped his legs about the other’s waist. He felt mindless right now. Every coherent thought he might be able to have was driven from his brain before it could even form. It was blissfully numb with a taste of passion that pulled him over the brink of temporary madness. There was a level of consciousness required but not much. He forgot about why he had come to Kanda’s room, why he was chased from slumber, everything was being torn from him.
It was almost like being reborn in a sense, but not really that grandeur. It wasn’t flowery or sappy like romance novels made it out to be. It was just mindless and bestial, the primal side coming out with a vengeance in both of them. A better description of things was they were drowning in pleasure, in heat, and especially in each other.
Kanda hissed as Allen raked his fingernails down his back and arched into his touches like a well strung bow. It was a side of his fellow exorcist he never thought he’d see. Behind all of his walls the other boy was a little rough around the edges, cynical to a degree, and certainly jaded about the world. Right now all that was remaining was a wild untamable beast. He lost himself in the present, all of his thoughts flying free like birds.
He could see the appeal in being the giver now that he was fully in control and it wasn’t Allen really holding the reins. Not that the swordsman expected to be the dominant male, neither of them were, they squabbled over control all the time. The other exorcist had to be really shaken to give up his control to him this easily. Not that he’d ask about it, they respected each other’s inner demons and left well enough alone.
Close they maybe and inside each other’s walls but both were private individuals when it came to what chased them from sleep or made them wander cities aimlessly. It was an unspoken rule to never ask about each other’s pasts. Thus far neither had crossed that line and betrayed the wordless trust. It didn’t look to change any time soon.
He felt Allen’s body tense up, he rocked harder and faster into him in response. They were so close and as much as he would love to drag this out for a while, there was an urgency to finish. And like with everything else he did, Kanda pursued it ruthlessly. It was an alluring sight to see Allen wonton and writhing under him.
Not that the other wasn’t actively participating in the act, quite the opposite. He yanked Kanda down for a kiss by a bit of hair he’d snagged. It was a clashing of teeth and tongue in a battle for dominance; he gave in quickly this time letting the other have the reins. Normally he put up a fight for it and sometimes won; such was the nature of their relationship. He just didn’t feel like it tonight, the never ending war was tiresome.
He gritted his teeth after they broke from yet another kiss but a small cry escaped him as the mind bending waves of release hit him with the force of a hurricane. For a few seconds all he saw and felt was white as he clawed desperately at Kanda’s shoulders. Allen was fairly sure he’d drawn blood if the metallic coppery scent was any indication.
Kanda growled as Allen cried out softly and gritted his teeth. He followed not long after the other’s body constricted around him. He thrust into his partner a few more times before he came himself. It took a minute or so afterwards for the haze to clear as he shook his head and droplets of sweat went flying. The swordsman slipped out of Allen and rolled to the side before nudging him in the ribs. “Hey, get a towel from the bathroom.”
The other exorcist gave him an incredulous look and batted at the hand poking at his side. “My legs feel like they’re made of rubber and you want me to attempt walking? That would be a lesson in how fast the floor and my face will have a meeting. I’d rather not have to explain how I got a busted chin on your floor. Get it yourself.” He pointed out and with evident dismissal tugged the covers over himself before he settled in.
The swordsman hissed as he renewed his poking. “You came here to my room, Walker. Get your lazy ass up and go get it.” He gritted his teeth and tried not to think of murdering the bastard he slept with.
“Might I point out I didn’t come here expecting sex? I just wanted to talk and try not to lose my marbles thank you.” Allen retorted as he looked over his shoulder at his lover. “My legs are going to be wobbly and it’s just a bad idea. Quit being a dick, swallow a bit of pride, and go get it yourself. It’s not hard you know. You just-“
That comment started a scuffle in which the smaller exorcist won. He booted the swordsman out of bed and hissed one more time in obvious challenge. Kanda bared his teeth in a sneer in reply as he rubbed his hip. He growled something that was a slam against Allen’s heritage as he started for the bathroom.
Allen showed him just how cultured he was with a rude finger gesture in plain sight. “Fuck you too, psycho the swordsman.” He muttered and pulled the blankets up.
He gritted his teeth and promised to wring the little bastard’s neck when he got back to bed. It didn’t take long to locate a towel and wet it. Kanda ignored how cold the tile was under his bare toes as he walked back. He yanked the blankets down out of his lover’s grasp and heard him protest in a few languages, but the swordsman ignored that too. He just cleaned them both up before departing for the bathroom again. He continued to tune out the nasty words in various languages that were hissed from the bedroom. Not his fault the only water to be had this high up in the building was freezing cold.
He had to wonder if this relationship was going to kill one or both of them. Honestly would it have killed Kanda to wait a few moments so the damn water heated up? Allen muttered a few more slams before eyeing the other as he came back. The self assured smirk had him growling tiredly in reply even as the other slipped under the covers. He tried not to make it obvious he was curling into Kanda for body heat. Anything to chase away the chill of that damn water in areas that should not make contact with cold water especially after activities that made them very sensitive.
Maybe he’d take a vow of celibacy or something just to spite the bastard. Or find a way to make Kanda’s hair have an accident. Wait he liked his hair; it was nice, silky, and felt nice against his face no matter what they were doing. Oh what a dilemma. “Quit snickering.” He grumbled as he pressed a little closer and started to drift off. For now, Kanda had won this round. But the war was far from over and he’d certainly live to fight another day.
