Summary: Roxas muses on a few things while watching Axel drive.
Roxas told himself he wasn’t staring at his best friend. It was a lie, but maybe if he told it often enough he’d believe it. Really, all that he was doing was studying the other’s chosen attire for the day.
Which was the usual coat over whatever else he’d tossed on before pulling on the coat..
It was a subject of curiosity since he knew what was under his own coat. The same thing that was always under it, maybe the boy lacked originality. Maybe it was just clinging to something that seemed to be his. Whatever it was, it just was. He shifted his dark blue eyes back to the other nobody as he drove the gummiship through the vastness of the space between worlds. Roxas didn’t get why the other seemed all gung-ho to try it.
They could travel the corridors of darkness just fine couldn’t they?
“You like looking at me, Roxas? Heh, don’t blame you. I like looking at me too.” The older nobody took his eyes off the controls for a moment to grin at his friend. He’d noticed the other staring and just had to comment. It wasn’t often something caught the blonde’s attention for so long. Unless it was a book but those were more fun to burn to him.
Roxas gave Axel a look before looking away. “Watch the controls.” He muttered as he wondered if he was the adult and the redhead was the younger one. He ignored the faint snicker before fending off the poking fingers and the breath in his ear.
”Admit it Roxas, you were staring.” Axel purred in amusement while continuing to poke at the other. He found it fun to draw strong reactions from the youngest nobody. That and it proved somehow they had hearts; at least it was his belief. He didn’t want to say they didn’t have some form of one.
“I was not.” He replied, his tone one of a teacher to particularly dense student. Roxas batted away the offending hand before staring at the world coming way too close far too fast. “AXEL!”
The redhead whipped his head around to stare at the controls and grabbed his fellow nobody. He opened a portal to the corridors of darkness and hauled them through.
The boy stared at him wordlessly. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to say or do but there was something.
”Whoops.” Was the quiet, answer from Axel as he watched the gummiship crash from their safe viewpoint. A navigation piece rolled in from the crash and stopped when it met his foot. He picked it up and winced at it smoked in his fingers.
“…Which of us is the adult here?” Roxas finally questioned as he shook his head and strode off. They did have a mission to finish after all.
