A/N: 17 days late, which is sadly not even a record for me. Also, I wanted to review the manga but don't have access to it right now (BOO, Dark Horse, for teasing me with omnibus releases and then never coming through) so I used a mix of the anime and, uh, wikipedia. *cough* There's not a whole lot of sex, alas, and it's probably not quite what the prompter was looking for, but I hope you like it anyway?

The forest was lush and green, full of life, but while the air was warm and a little humid it wasn't the unbearable stickiness of a full-blown jungle. Hikaru stretched, loving the feel of the warm air on her bare skin; the last world they visited had been colder and more dangerous so she'd never made it out of her armour, much less her clothes.

Lantis always loved these uninhabited worlds, nature untouched and wild, and Hikaru loved seeing him so happy. Eagle did, too, so they'd stay a while, longer than either would have on their own, but seeing Lantis unbend a little was more than worth it.

Hikaru certainly had nothing against beautiful places like this. It was just that she started missing people eventually; she could never be truly lonely with Lantis and Eagle at her side, but she still loved worlds full of people best. The worlds with intelligent life were more common than Hikaru would have imagined, before Cephiro, but Hikaru had gotten used to it over the years. Hikaru loved those worlds, especially the more peaceful ones. Villages and towns full of people just going about their business in safety and hapiness, those were the best, for Hikaru. But even after months of travelling full-time, ever since she graduated, Hikaru still loved each and every world they came to, even the sad ones and the scary ones; there was something beautiful about every place, if you looked hard enough.

Eagle, of course, liked the high-tech worlds best. He wasn't into technology quite as much as Zazu, but he did still like to get samples of unfamiliar technology to bring back.

They were due to stop back in Cephiro again soon. Umi, Fuu and Eagle's former crew would be gathering there soon, their bi-annual reunion. Time didn't run the same on all worlds, but after the first time Hikaru, Lantis and Eagle had missed it Zazu had cooked up a device that would tell them what time of year it was on Cephiro, no matter where they were; Clef had offered, too, but technology mostly worked everywhere, if it had an internal power source, and magic was a little more unpredictable on some worlds.

Fortunately, everything seemed to be working fine on this world. They hadn't found any particularly aggressive large predators in their survey of the area, but just in case they missed something Hikaru wore the gauntlet even when she was wearing nothing else. In fact, she summoned just enough armour to protect her hands and her most vulnerable areas from rocks, now, as she started climbing up the nearby cliff.

She'd checked thoroughly and the water beneath was plenty deep for diving, no nasty rock formations that would catch her out. Five years ago she never would have gone cliff-diving nude, even on an uninhabited world, but being left out every time Lantis and Eagle went skinny-dipping had gotten old really fast; Hikaru had figured that literally just diving right in would be the best way to get over her shyness.

The looks on their faces that first time had been pretty hilarious, too. Now, it was just one more adventure, one she indulged in every chance she got.

At the top of the cliff Hikaru dismissed her armour and stretched again, still a little enamoured of the feel of her breasts bouncing with the movement. Caldina was going to make such a big deal of the way she'd finally developped in the last six months. Hikaru had been starting to think that she'd never grow, that she'd be as short and flat-chested at 19 as she had been at 14; she still wasn't tall, or particularly well-endowed, but Lantis and Eagle both said there was a definite difference now. She'd noticed herself, too, unexpectedly finding her eye-level on Lantis and Eagle to be different from what she'd gotten used to, and there had been an embarrassing incident when she'd been practicing swordwork out of her armour--she'd almost dropped her sword because her breasts got in the way of a cross-body stroke in a way they never had before. But she'd come to enjoy the changes in her body through Lantis's and Eagle's enjoyment of them.

Hikaru closed her eyes for a moment, just soaking in the sun and the warm breeze, the smells of green growing life. Then she opened them and dived, the wind rushing past her as she made a knife of her body, the thrill of freefall surging through her. She cut through the water smoothly, continuing down to the sandy bottom of the pool and resting there a moment before pushing off, back to the surface. The water was cool, refreshing, but not cold. Probably one of the most perfect swimming spots they'd found yet.

As the adrenaline rush of the dive faded, Hikaru paddled around lazily, rolling onto her back and admiring the blueness of the sky. Lantis and Eagle should be back soon, judging by the position of the sun.

Sometimes when they went off by themselves they left an obvious path for Hikaru to follow. She didn't always take them up on the offer, but sometimes it was nice to follow them and watch. Hikaru enjoyed battle, in a sense--she enjoyed the physical exertion, and being able to protect what was dear to her--but she'd never quite been able to sexualise fighting the way those two did. When they wanted a sparring match that flowed seamlessly into rough, wild sex, it was better for it to be just the two of them... but it was fun to watch. And when she did watch, once they'd worked out all their aggression on each other they were more than happy to go another, gentler round with her.

Sometimes, like today, they left no trail at all and Hikaru knew to stay away. They'd been together long before she came into the picture, and every once in a while she knew they needed to just be together, to renew their bond in privacy. That was the part of their relationship Hikaru never tried to explain to outsiders, because everyone else just assumed she would feel threatened or left out, but that wasn't it at all. They tried really hard to make sure that was never the case, and it had been her idea for them to take some time alone when they needed it. It made them happy, and that made her happy. She got as much attention from them as she could ever want, why should she feel threatened by those few hours they spent alone?

She heard them coming after a little while longer. Lantis and Eagle could move silently, even through dense forest like this, so all the noise they were making as they returned was deliberate, letting her know they were on their way. She could sense their energies anyway, but it was a courtesy they extended to her as a fellow warrior, and she appreciated that.

She got out of the water to greet them, and neither seemed to mind at all that she got their clothes wet when she hugged them hello.

As soon as they made it back to camp, though, she was attacked from two fronts with towels, even though the warm air had mostly dried her off already. Eagle and Lantis made no attempt to hide their ulterior motives in towelling her off, which made it all the more pleasant an experience. By the time even the pretense of the towels went by the wayside, along with Eagle's and Lantis's own clothes, Hikaru had been touched and rubbed and stimulated in every place Lantis and Eagle could reach. Weak-kneed and wet now in a different way altogether, Hikaru dragged them down onto the bedrolls.

And this, of course, was the other reason Hikaru had no problem at all letting the two men have their alone time together--they always came back energised and eager, as if by the end of their time alone they'd started to miss her, even if it was only a few hours.

When they were done, all of them sweaty and sticky and pleasantly worn out, the sun was starting to set. It gave the whole forest a pleasantly warm sort of glow to it, one that matched Hikaru's mood very well. The world truly was a wonderful place, especially when it had Lantis and Eagle in it.
