A/N: Hrm, well, not much to say, really. Hope you all enjoy! Oh, and I'm sorry this is late. On the plus side, I got a job!

She sat on the windowsill, watching the desert winds blow the sand across the frontier. Her hand touched the glass and she cocked her head at how cool the surface was, even with the sun beating down on it constantly.

“Curious?”

Terra Branford turned and gave a sheepish smile to the man in the door, leaning against the frame with one fist poised as if ready to knock. She shook her head as she recognized her visitor and sighed. “I don’t know. Maybe a little bit, Edgar.”

He walked over and sat down beside her, raising a hand to gently touch the cool surface with a lover’s tenderness. ”It’s coated with a reflective alloy on the outside to protect the indoors from the sun’s heat. Living in this God-forsaken desert, we have to have something like this or we’d all suffocate. Also, it reinforces the glass tenfold, so the pressure of going underground doesn’t shatter it.”

“Oh…” She nodded. “That makes sense. I was wondering about that, too.”

His hand shifted from the window and took hold of hers before she could blink. He smiled softly before pressing a gentle kiss to her knuckles. “Now, then, Terra, what would you like to do? I made the chancellor free up my afternoon so I could spend some time with my bride-to-be on her first day back to Figaro since the ball.”

She gave a small smile and studied the diamond on her left hand. “Edgar… Are you sure this is okay? For a half-breed girl like me to be the next queen?”

He shook his head with a laugh. “Honestly, Terra, are you going to go back to this? Trust me!  You’re beautiful, smart, independent, and you kick me into gear; everything Figaro needs!”

She chuckled lightly and settled her forearms on his shoulders in a semblance to an embrace. “I still… The castle doesn’t suit me, Edgar.”

He gave a sigh and settled his hands on her hips to pull her closer. “Terra, are you saying…?”

Her green hair fell back and forth over her shoulders as she shook her head. “No, Edgar. I do want to be with you, but I… Can’t you leave and let Sabin take over?”

He chuckled lightly and pulled her in for a kiss. “You know I can’t. I didn’t rig the coin toss for nothing.”

“I know… I guess I’ll have to become a queen, then, huh?”

His hand came up to touch her chin lightly as he smirked. “You already are as much of a queen as I need. Don’t change, Terra. I’ll need someone to kick me into gear and get my head out of the clouds.”

“I’ll do my best.”

“Good. I’d hate for you to change because of me.”

She smiled lightly and asked, “But don’t people usually change for the people they love?”

His light demeanor changed to an all-out laugh. “Alright, you’ve got me there. But you don’t have to change for the responsibilities that come with me, okay?”

“I’ll have to change so I can help you, but I won’t hesitate to hit you if necessary.”

“You’re all I could ask for in a woman.”
