What the hell is up with Roger Ebert today?

I love Ebert's reviews for the most part. I like that he doesnt follow the "look at me, I'm a witty writer" when writing about movies, the way most reviewers do these days. He judges them based on what they are trying to do, which i think is the best criteria. This review of Just Friends is just plain ( Read more... )

Agreed. That is barely even a review. It reads like the ramblings of a methadone patient.

hello,
i am hoping to move to portland in 2006 to complete an MA. i
searched for people in the area who like red house painters, they are my favourite band so anyone who likes them can't be bad people can they?
i am from england and have lived in louisiana for almost two years
now. i was hoping to make some contacts up in portland before i get
there and you are the first person i've found.
if you think you can help a fairly foreign girl get to grips with the city then i'd appreciate any contact you offer.

Yup, RHP is deffinately one of my favorites. I'm going to see Mark Kozelek play a solo show in about two weeks. I actually lived in London for 6 months back in 2000. If you like London weather, you should do fine in Portland. Its grey and rainy here for most of the year.
