That's kind of heart breaking, seeing River's last regeneration. I guess it would have been even worse, but River said that the Doctor wouldn't have had a chance saving the Library because his hearts would burn out, so River was always kind of the end of the line for Melody anyway.
But before she gets there, she really needs to have an adventure with Captain Jack. Potentially bonus points for still-mortal!Jack and additional points if she's the reason he's missing two years.
