In Germany now

I'm in Magdeburg, Germany, now, with my brother and father.

Every time I travel in coach/economy class, I am reminded quite forcefully of why I need to lose weight - especially if I am unlucky enough to be sitting next to another fairly large person.  It's definitely enough to make the whole lower section of my body sore, and a good portion of my upper body as well. I shouldn't complain too much - every single seat in the 747 from Boston to Frankfurt was filled, so there was no extra room for everybody.  The flight from Frankfurt to Leipzig was nearly empty by comparison, and I got a lovely view of the sky brightening over a thick bank of clouds early in the morning.

I've barely slept in about 30 hours, but then again neither has my brother.  In his case, it's my niece who kept him and my sister in law up most of last night.  They just came to Germany three days ago, and she has not adjusted well to the time change.  I guess it's pretty much impossible to explain jet lag to a 10-month old child!
