It's been a little while since I have posted, and the main reason for this is that I haven't had the heart to write about the main thing that is happening in my family now.  To put it bluntly, Mom's condition has been declining and she probably has only a short time left to live.  We suspected this after both rounds of chemotherapy failed, but ( Read more... )

It's hardest on my father. He is with her almost all of the time, sleeping on mattress in the family room at night.

One of the only good things that has come from this is that Mom has been reconciled with her sister, and she has seen how much love other people - relatives, neighbors, acquaintances - have for her.

We lost my mother to cancer when I was 16, and ... well, I don't know what to say other than this brings back the most difficult of memories.

Sometimes I don't know how we all make it.

I cry too much these days.

I am so sorry that you're going through this. It makes my heart happy though to see a statement like, "At some point I should describe how incredibly fortunate I have been to have a mother like her." It sounds like you are all lucky to have each other. I'll think good thoughts for her.

Thank you. The older I get, the more I realize how lucky I have been to have been part of this family.
