The last few days have been better for Mom - she is getting used to the hospital routine (well, as much as anyone can get used to it), and she is more comfortable. She does not have much of an appetite, but she has not been really sick to her stomach most of the time. She seems to be feeling less pain, while also remaining more alert than she was last week. This is the sixth day of her chemotherapy. We just hope and pray that it works.
Mom's sister came to visit her on Sunday, along with her husband and two of my cousins. She might be visiting again today. This is a special turn of events because my mother and her sister have not been on speaking terms for several years. They were once very close, but there was a complicated and emotional family dispute that put them on opposite sides. Now, this crisis seems to be bringing them back together. It's tragic that it takes a severe illness to overcome family disputes, but the fact that they seem to be about to reconcile is very encouraging.
