Cable
He did his best to always be on alert. That? That was important; nothing and no one should be allowed near that baby. Also important, however, was the fact that the baby needed stimulation. Nathan couldn't afford to spend all of his time looking over his shoulder...
And so there he was, on the beach. Crosslegged, holding the baby, and telling her a few things about the common habits of the sea crab. With the waves crashing in and the seagulls screaming, it was... peaceful.
Even if the ash was mildly worrying, and had been distracting his attention all morning.
Weasel
Then a small puff as air joined the noises of the water and gulls. And, why yes, yes that would be a small weasel making a beeline for Cable and attempted to climb up his arm.
Cable
... Well.
A glance at his arm brought to Cable's attention both the weasel finding a home on it-- and a blinking red LED imbedded in his shoulder. He thought he'd caught something in the corner of his eye before, but not--
The store. Something had attacked the store. He shifted the baby away from the creature, resisting the urge to just jump up and go.
Weasel
The weasel hissed slightly at the light, renewing it's efforts to reach his shoulder. "Temari-san reports in."
Cable
How had he missed this? Stupid. Stupid. Stupid--
But the weasel's words made Cable pause. His instincts hadn't left him completely, then. "And what does she have to report?"
Weasel
"Subject is wounded. Weak spots along the arm," It said, moving back and forth on his should from excitement or maybe nerves.
"Interrupted the summoning. Hadn't meant to send me. She'll be sending apologies for not giving you a fighter."
Cable
"Her apologies are accepted," he said, dismissively. "Who is the subject?"
Weasel
"Bishop."
Cable
Of course.
Stupid.
He needed backup, and he needed to be fast.
"Tell her I said thank you," Cable gritted, reaching down to pull his gun out of its holster, "And she deserves a raise. Bodyslide by three."
