Somewhere Just Outside Dallas, Texas, Sunday Afternoon

Apr 20, 2008 22:44

The jet was hidden amongst the foilage-- pretty much untracable. Unless you knew where to look.

As far as Cable went, it was... fitting.

XavierAs far as Cable went, it was... fitting. Xavier brushed the leaves aside, revealing the Blackbird's sleek lines.

"We have arrived."

It took a few moments, but eventually, the Blackbird's door slid open, the ramp sliding down to the ground, bringing nothing but silence with it.

Deadpool"Oooo!" Deadpool said, walking up the ramp. "Very mysterious. I wonder who it could be."

InoIno was... still kinda pissed off 'bout the whole passing out thing. "I predict a trap," she said moodily, following him slowly. "You go in first."

ArashiArashi stood back and watched it intensly, not sure what to expect anymore.

XavierXavier's hands found his pockets, and he wandered into the jet without much concern on his part. At least, he seemed to have none; upon entering the Blackbird, he ignored the others completely. "Cable?"

The lights were mostly dark. He was fairly sure he'd just stepped in a puddle of blood, too-- making his way past the rows of chairs... "Cable?"

CableCable had his eyes closed.

Which, all things considered, was to be expected, considering how unconscious he was. He was also still bleeding sluggishly all over the chair (would have to be redone, that chair) and his form was practically littered with wounds.

XavierXavier brushed his hand against the back of Cable's chair before glancing down. "Deadpool? There is a panel to your right that should contain a medkit..."

DeadpoolDeadpool's jaw tensed as he smelled the blood first. Great.

Suicide boy struck again.

"I swear, he can't go a day alone without getting gutted," Deadpool muttered, grabbing the medkit and glaring at Nate's prone form.

InoHer eyes widened, then narrowed furiously and she darted past Deadpool without a second thought, hands flaring with pale healing chakra as she took in Cable-san's injuries.

"You're a fucking moron," she told Cable-san, uncaring that he couldn't hear her, and then dragging her attention to healing what she could.

ArashiArashi frowned deeply seeing Nate this way... again.

Part of him unrealisticly wanted to tell Ino to watch her mouth, but... that wasn't going to happen.

"Who were you trying to save this time?" he sighed and shook his head.

XavierXavier pulled on the chair-- gently shooing Ino aside for just a moment so he could give the man's prone body some space. "We'll need to work fast to stop him from bleeding dry," he said, moving sideways so that she could get back to work.

He knelt down, opening the medkit with deft, practiced swiftness. Bandages.

DeadpoolDeadpool crossed his arms over his chest, taking a seat in one of the chairs.

What? He healed automatically! He was crap at injuries this bad on others.

But he stayed quiet for the most part. Just sitting and giving Nate a blank look. Moron deserved to end up dead this time.

InoBandages were good things. Bandages were excellent things, but Ino let others handle that part of the whole 'fixing Cable-san, the moron' and concentrated more on steadily feeding chakra down through her hands and slowly watching bruises fade and what small cuts she could handle disappear.

Ha. She was getting better at this whole healing thing. Ino hadn't passed out yet, that was a total plus.

ArashiArashi put a hand on Ino's shoulder, whispering to her so really only she could hear. "Careful, don't go to far." he was just worried about her, he didn't want her to pass out again.

He looked between Wade, Ino, Nate and Xavier somberly, just waiting for something to happen.

XavierIt would be a few hours before anything happened.

When it did-- Cable's wounds were as good as patched up. At least to the best of Xavier's-- and Ino's-- ability.

"Nathan. I'm trying to make you as comfortable as possible..." Xavier spoke, suddenly.

CableAnd Nathan... shifted his eyes open. One eye. Sluggishly. "Professor," he acknowledged, thinly. "...Remember when everyone thought I tried to kill you?"

XavierXavier sat back on his haunches.

He didn't sigh in relief. "Which time?"

Cable"The first time." Cable's other eye managed a crack, too-- flashing briefly. "When Stryfe was--"

Xavier"...Impersonating you," Xavier finished. He kept his eyes trained on Cable. It had been a long time ago, but... "Yes, I remember."

CableCable's face managed something that fell between a wistful smile and a smirk-- his eyes settled on Wade. And managed a pretty decent deadpan. "Fun times, huh?"

Deadpool"Heeeeey, Nate," Deadpool said, standing up and grinning nicely. "How are things? I'mma kill you if you move, mmkay?"

Cable"Hey, Wade," Cable echoed, his voice still weak, and his eyes shut again as his head thunked back against the seat. "Might be... counterproductive..."

InoIno, looking pale and exhausted, wrinkled her nose a bit. "Really, Deadpool-san, if you're going to kill him then I at least should get the first hit in. Since I helped put him back together."

ArashiArashi looked between the three of them and smirked. "I hate to say it, but even with him all bloody and battered I'd put my money on Nate if there's a fight."

CableThere was a reason-- there was a reason he was here. What was it-- the last few days struck Nate like a solid blow, and he was moving to sit up. A little.

"The baby... missing. I need your help."

And checked his bandages with one hand.

Deadpool"Who is the kid, anyway?" Deadpool asked, hands still going for a gun. And not even in the fun joking way that he thought Ino was meaning.

Cable"First mutant born since M-Day."

He gave up on moving, for the moment.

"She changes everything."

Deadpool"How long did you know?"

Cable"Thirty seconds--" Tried another tiny shift, anyway, "--before self-destruct."

If asked about it later, Nate would... probably just not answer, but as it was, he blamed the blood loss.

Deadpool...

And that would be Deadpool rushing forward to punch him in the head.

InoWell, Ino certainly wasn't going to stop him.

"Brilliant plan," she said dryly, very very dryly, "so brilliant a plan that I wish I had popcorn to eat while Deadpool-san knocks some sense into you."

Why, no, Ino did not like the idea that he'd gone off and nearly died over some stupid baby.

ArashiArashi grabbed Wade's fist a moment before he could hit Nate. "Probably a step backwards at this point, love."

Xavier"All of you. Enough."

Xavier wasn't even looking at them. His gaze was still set on Cable, and he continued, fluidly-- "Considering your track record, Nathan, you've got a lot to explain."

A lot.

"For starters," he said, mildly, "You're supposed to be dead. Then we find out that not only you're alive, but you've kidnapped the first new mutant to be born since the Decimation. And if that wasn't bad enough, the nano-sentinels you were in contact with recently took control of the Sentinel pilots guarding the mansion, destroying it and killing several of our number."

He wasn't going to mention the frog.

"So you'll have to excuse a little doubt..."

Cable"Charles. Listen to me."

He finally managed some degree of sitting up.

"We don't have time for this. The only thing that matters is the survival of that baby. The only thing. I've seen the future. It's darker than we could imagine-- but without that baby?"

Nate stole the shortest of looks at Wade-- might owe him a brawl, later-- and then back to Xavier, with full conviction. "I couldn't contact anyone. The X-Men were crawling with Marauders when I left. I couldn't take the chance. But I'm the only one who can keep that baby safe, and you know it."

Deadpool"So, what? This was all just another pitstop before you moved on to bigger and better things?" Deadpool asked, straining against Arashi's grip.

There was an unspoken 'again' at the end of that statement.

ArashiArashi glanced between Wade, Nate and Xavier before looking away. His world was so less complicated than this. "Where's the baby now?" He asked, not letting go of Wade.

It seemed prudent to get past all the past issues bullshit and right to the heart of the problem.

Ino"And what's one baby going to do for you?" Ino asked, blue eyes shuttered. "Even if this baby is so special," she didn't pretend to really understand it, "you can't, like, she's only one. Not much of a continuance, that."

Cable"I needed a safe place," Nate replied, vaguely. He pressed his hand against the seat, pushing himself up. With some difficulty. There may have been a slight, thankful glance at Arashi before he asked-- "Charles--?"

XavierHe'd kept silent.

He was still keeping silent--

And then he wasn't.

"We need to set the jet en route to Muir Island. But I fear what we might find there..."

Deadpool"A safe place." There could not possibly have been more annoyance and anger shoved into those three words.

Really. Deadpool had skills like that.

"When this is over, I'm shooting you in the head and not helping drag your dumb ass back to life."

ArashiArashi grabbed Wade's hand and held it tightly. He wouldnt' stop Wade from doing what he liked once everyone was in relative safety, especially this kid.

Arashi? Have a soft spot for kids? Maaaaaaaaybe.

Ino...

...

She shouldn't have fucking healed him. Ino's face, normally showing all her emotions as she felt them, was expressionless.

CableUpright.

Right.

He twisted the chair back to the controls.

Might have some issues to smooth out, later, if Fandom was to remain a safe haven-- for whatever time he needed it-- but that was of secondary--

He wasn't going to-- he'd let the doubts take their course earlier. Now was a time of focus.

Sitting back down, Cable set the course. Muir Island.

Xavier settled in the chair beside him. He had that much.
