!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LKSJALSDIKFJASLDKFJASDLKFAJSDFKLA THIS FIC. OMG. It makes me so ridiculously INSANELY HAPPY!!!! My toes are cramping from CURLING and I have an owie in my mouth from BITING IT and my cheeks hurt from GRINNING and lsdkjlaksdjf EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee!!!!!!!!!!

This fic is so so so so wonderful and fabulously written and SO LOVELY in all of its detail and *FLAIL*! I LOOOVE every single thing about it. EVERYTHING. It has just so many wonderful things in it!!!

I LOVE Eiji's voice! I LOOVE teh hint of Tezuka/Oishi!!! I LOOOOOOOOVELOVELOVELOVE the STARS and the whole star-gazing part! Eiji TRYING to sneak up on Inui and Inui JUST KNOWING he was (BECAUSE OF HIS BREATHING OMG OH INUI YOU DORK!!!!!! *___*) I LOOOOVE (in the most retardedly 10 year-old way and flailed like a spazz) that Inui and Renji were star-gazing and Eiji joined them and that Renji came back and FLAIL they all shared hot chocolate and RENJI MADE HOT CHOCOLATE and would have brought extra and he was so helpfully showing Eiji constellations and Inui was telling Eiji about them and Eiji falling asleep on Inui and lasdkfjlsdkjfa they both helped to get a SNEAKY EIJI back to his room aslfdkjsldkjfadslkjasdlkjdas OMG MY HEART BURST. DATA PAIR!!!!! I love their wee camping trip and getting lost and TELESCOPE!!! I love head-on-Inui's-shoulder and falling ASLEEP listening to Renji and INUI talking about CONSTEALLATIONS and zeniths and moon stations alskdjfa!!!! Both of them heaving Eiji and Renji helping Eiji onto Inui's back! saldkfj Going up stairs and putting EIji on the BED *_* and Inui taking off Eiji's SHOES *_*

while Eiji mumbles a quiet "Thanks," staying curled up on the bed while he watches Inui's retreating figure follow Yanagi out into the dark hallway. He feels slightly off-balance, like landing on one foot after a difficult jump.

OH!!!! I love that off-balanced feeling! *_*

And all of the Eiji and Fuji interaction!!!!! FLAIL!!

THe ride back to school! Eiji and Fuji sitting together!! Eiji leaning over Inui and trying to peek at his data!!! Burrowing his nose in INUI'S HAIR!!!! CHOKING INUI!!!! FLAIL! And twirling little circles in his HAIR
!!!!! *____* OMG AND Momo sleeping on Kaidoh's shoulder and DROOLING ON HIM. GOD i love drooling during sleep.
Its so funny and cute.

The part where Eiji thinks about Inui made me all melty inside:

There's something comforting about Inui. He's solid and dependable and constant. He's a bit strange, but he likes spying and secrets and always calls Eiji if there's something interesting going on. He's a lot of fun to bother and doesn't rise easily to bait. While Oishi will blush and act sentimental and Fuji will tickle him into submission, Inui, for the most part, accepts his clinging like he doesn't even notice he's there at all. It's always a challenge to pester him enough to actually get him to do something about it.

Eiji likes challenges.

It fits them SO WELL and captures the dynamic between them and just. JUST YES. That Inui just accepts Eiji and Eiji's bid for attention. XDDD SO wonderful!

I love Inui getting Eiji to THINK about why he was chosen for the team and consider who he'll be paired with and his encouragement. All the little details about the different sounds on the bus and the sensations of being half-on-top of Inui and the way Inui talks to him. Inui thinking too much and Eiji distracting him!!! *_*

You added all the other regulars and that is just SO GREAT! I love ensembles and they just add so much to this story! Fuji squeezing Eiji's elbow and stealing his WATER!!!! *___*

And going to Eiji's house!!!! : DDDDDD and FLAIL. OMG. From them on Eiji's bed talking about Tezuka and Ochibi and just lying there looking at each other and EIJI. STEALING. INUI'S. GLASSES. OMFG. ILUFORTHAT!!!! Its so perfect and so EIJI. ^_^ And how there are awkward, unsure moments!@!!!! and FIGHTING FOR THE GLASSES and tangled LEGS and the feet against legs before this and alskdfja Inui winding up kneeling on Eiji's thigh and sitting "deliberately" on his ankle! Then the hints of GIRL-THOUGHTS *_* FLAIL

I just FLAIL. Hand on Eiji's wrist!

But Eiji still feels kind of shivery and warm and wriggly. Inui is still holding onto one of his wrists and his skin feels hot under Inui's grip. Inui is looking at him strangely - not that he can see his eyes anymore, but he looks - uncertain. He's staring at Eji like he doesn't quite know how to move.

"Inui," Eiji says, and it comes out in almost a whisper. He clears his throat. "Inui, what?"

I love that part! Eiji's "almost [a] whisper" voice. And throat clearing! : DDDDDD
Leaning in and kissing him awkwardly!!!! Hand on chestQ!!! Eiji's surprise! and then *_* Snerk! "I don't know what came over m-" LOL SO GREAT. Pulling Inui BACK DOWN!!!

GOD and the kiss! EIji thinking its unfair when Inui kisses him down his neck *shiver* and his retaliation!!! OH EIJI!!! You are so AWESOME!!!! *___* Of COURSE he'd be that impulsive and alskdfjalksdjfasldk pants touching!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

"Kikumaru," Inui breaks off the kiss. His voice is deeper than usually and his face was bright red. He smells weird this close, like detergent, mixed with something strong and chemical. "Are you sure that we're not -ohgod."

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I like how you describe what Eiji thinks he smells like a few times in this. it makes it so much more visceral and real! *_* Plus how his voice is deeper than normal... GAH.

And I think I nearly fell off my stool and loudly cackled when Eiji's brother walked in on them OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! I LOVE THAT. SO MUCH. I love "getting caught"!!!! FLAILFLAIL!!! It made me squee loudly. : DDDD SO PERFECT. GOD the ending! JUST. FABULOUS. How Eiji randomly says "Oshitari Yuushi" and just lskdjfalskdj YES. that he and Inui both KNOW who Eiji will get paired with and lsakdjfa YES and OMG.

This is the best last line omg: "You might want to zip up your pants." I cackled madly. LOL. SO SO GREAT. I just imagine them randomly making out from now on, when Eiji's being particularly attention-seeking and putting his head on Inui's, trying to unnerve him and get a reaction. I think he'll want to get a whole NEW reaction from Inui now.
And Inui can add more of Eiji's data to his notebook.

First off, SO RELIEVED that this worked out. I wrote parts of this with the feeling that it was either going to flop or be awesome - and I'm glad that it somehow ended up being the latter. The prompt was overwhelming, but amazing - I started scribbling out notes right away, I think I still have them. It was unusual and a huge challenge and I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it was.

I think I already told you that I was originally wavering between Eiji/Renji and Eiji/Inui for about a week before I caught that conversation about how badly you wanted Eiji/Inui. And at that point, I decided that while I wanted it to start at Senbatsu, I really wanted to take it beyond the Senbatsu a little - and Eiji/Inui suited that a little better. :D It was, in retrospect, a good decision, because Inui would have been the common denominator either way.

I tried to pick and choose as many of the details from your prompt as I could, while not trying to force any - stargazing and stars really became a main theme for me and it helped to put in some of the Data Pair and even some conciliatory Eiji/Renji. :D

So yes - my main goals were to focus on the characterization, try to define their dynamic as I saw it and to really make it a fun, sweet piece with something of a plot in relation to actual anime canon.

My one big disappointment for this story was that I felt that I didn't write Fuji in nearly as much as I could have. :D

Oh MAN. Did it ever work! It seems like such a fun piece to write because it is super fun to read. I didn't mean for the prompt to be overwhelming lol but just a huge brainstorm of love and thoughts that were so random and I like to give lots of options lol. I know some people like less prompts but I like getting a slew of them so I can see what works and what might not. :D I'm glad some worked for you.

Yes you did! And I was nearly undone when you had all three of them out in the grass. *_* It was just. Well I think I covered that in my flail but LOL yes. Inui, though, always would be the common denominator. ^_^ In any way it would occur, that's what it would be, I'm sure. I LOVE Inui/Eiji and the doujinshi and other random stuff I've found recently and this lovely lovely fic has just whet my appetite for MORE. *_* Surprise surprise. Maybe more people will be inspired to write them now!

I love the characterisation and it worked so so well. Their dynamic fit just right and so sweet and WAH. LOVE.

Awwww that's okay of course. Fuji will find his way around in there some way or another eventually. I'm getting really excited about them again. :D
