Knitting help?

Two things:

1. Made a beautiful (no, I mean it, BEA-OOOUUUU-TIFUL) scarf from mohair. I did this one a bit differently. One skein of mohair with a fun fur accent (so it's fuzzy) and then one skein of mohair alone and then repeating the mohair/fun fur. It's a nice long accent scarf. But I want the mohair in the middle (and maybe each end - thinking on it...) to be felted. How does one felt? I've read about "hand-washing" = felting and I'm a bit confused.

2. The Prince is now knitting. Yes, you read that right - he is knitting. And it's great - he's made one (very bad) scarf :) and is now working on potholders (slb44? Potholder in YOUR future :D). He asked me to show him how to knit so I did. Problem is my family is very "Um, a boy? Knitting?" It's not that big of a deal to me -- Rosie Grier crochets, btw - but how do I get that over to them?

3. And yeah, I said two but it's three. I am totally confused on how to knit in the round. I have read three different articles on it, both about three needle rounding and circular needle rounding and I am completely and utterly confused. Help? I am a kinetic and visual learner if that helps you better understand where to point me for assistance.
