Awesome pop from NYC. I heard
Patchen play a Belle and Sebastian cover by them on
WMUC earlier today--"Me and the Major," which grabbed me. It's not on the band's myspace page, but this other stuff sounds even better.

it reminds me a little of what i got excited about about jangly, hooky indie pop of the late 80s. groups like gut bank and others whose names are escaping me now because i'm listening to ... dream bitches. i guess this is my way of saying that this stuff is really good. it's making me think of the first times i realized there was something much broader and deeper and more exciting than top 40, when i was about 18 years old (and that's getting to be a while ago). it's reminding me of the softies ep i like a lot, a coupla throwing muses albums, and other stuff i can't think of right now. it's tapping into something from long ago.
brief new dog update: things are actually pretty peaceful here at my house w/ 3 dogs. guess that's 'cause #3 is pretty mellow. starting to narrow the names down finally. and rufus is healing from the bite.
