Rufus is his name-o.

I have finally named my new boy. Rufus. His name means "red-haired" in Latin. (This site is tres cool. I know I'll be calling him "Rufino" and "Ruffalini" and all sorts of ridiculous things as well). I actually came across the name Rufus two nights ago when I was reading the lj post of a fan of singer Rufus Wainwright. I'm not a huge fan myself--actually I'd have to say I know his father Loudon III's music more, but a vague memory was pricked that the name  Rufus has something to do with the color red, and it was odd that Wainwright himself has dark hair. And I had been thinking it'd be cool to have something having to do with red or brindle in my doggie's name. Glory be to God for, uh, brind[l]ed things! (A shout out to one of my fave poems, by Hopkins. Actually, Birdie also counts as a dear, dappled thing.)
