I went home for the weekend, and it was really nice. This was the longest stretch that I've stayed at school all year, but I wasn't homesick or dying to be at home, but it was nice to be there.
I drove to Penn State on Friday and stayed until Sunday to visit my friends Melissa and Jordan. It was great to see them-I haven't seen them since break. I also got to experience PSU life, including frat parties. Well, sort of. It was a "dry weekend" on campus because of this huge dance-a-thon (just called 'thon') that benefited children with cancer. So we went to the frat where they always hang out to start our own party--one of their best friends has a brother in the fraternity. So we got there and it turned out that this girl's brother had drank a whole bottle of whiskey by himself and called their mom at 1am. Then, he grabbed Melissa to hug her and ended up hitting her over the head with the empty bottle. Melissa had a huge welt on her head which required ice, and soon after, he smashed the bottle and tore down some of the ceiling. It was highly amusing, except that Kandace (Melissa's friend and the drunkard's sister) had to stay and take care of him once he became violently ill.
So PSU was way fun-so many boys!! Wow. I was in amazement. Melissa's head swelling went down pretty quickly and they assured me that it wasn't a normal occurence. I'm definitely planning another visit. (:
Other than that, I am getting caught up on reading for my Africa class--three books on slavery. Yuck. And I have three papers due this week. The good news is that Paris is in less than three weeks!!! (so many things come in three's. random observation.)
Ok, Kendra I hope you feel better schnoople pants, and I'll come and take care of you tomorrow!
