Ronnie Who? Ronnie Day, that’s who. Ronnie, full of hope, went out and aimed for his dreams. And you know, he’s actually reaching them as we speak. A one man band, full of talent.

My name is Ronnie Day, but not really. A few years back I created a profile on Myspace for my music, and I asked my modest fan base to pick my last name. They picked Day. So, with a new name and little else, I tested out of high school and started my journey.

Having left school at 16, I didn't have much money. Honestly, I didn't have any. So, I started marketing myself as a guitar instructor. Within a few weeks I had a full schedule of students, and I began putting money in the bank. Once I had “enough”, I bought a couple of microphones and some other recording equipment. I locked myself in my room with a book on home recording, and I started working on my first album.

I have a poor sense of time, so I don't know exactly how long I was locked in my room, but after a while I came out and I had made Nine Sleepless Nights . I didn't have any money left, but I had to manufacture discs. So, I called up some of my old students and started teaching again. I think this is true for most people, but money had this funny way of keeping me back.

Once I had discs, I released them to the public, and the public wasn't buying. I felt like that girl on the corner behind the lemonade stand… The one who can't sell anything… not the busy one. I started writing to people one by one on the internet. Then, those people started talking, too. I grew my online fan base and in time I had a small public. There weren't many of us, but together we manipulated key websites with our “Click Parties”; orchestrated online campaigns in which my supporters and I would visit these websites at midnight, bumping “Ronnie Day” into the “Top Artist Charts“. This created momentum, a proverbial wave that I decided to ride across the country. Tired of sitting in front of my laptop, I got in a car and toured.

I called upon my fans for their support, and once again, they supported. Now, some artists say that they appreciate their fans. You've seen it, that speech: “I'd be nothing with out you! God Bless!” Well, when I say this, I really mean it. I'd be nothing without these incredible people. Kids from across the country provided me with food, living room floors to sleep on, and backyards to play in. I packed my guitar, a keyboard, some ramen noodles and I went.

CD sales started increasing, people started talking, and before long the music industry had its squinty green eyes on me. I moved to Los Angeles for a month to record some tracks with Stacy Jones, the singer of American Hi-Fi, and his buddy Bill Lefler. I never once looked back, from the time I left school to my apartment in the Hollywood Hills. It was all a blur and I was consumed by every moment. I was a rock, invincible and ignorant. Then, I went home for a visit.

I'll spare myself the details, but what happened would ultimately become the subject of The Album (The next album...). My first love of three years had left me for a stranger and it hit me like a bat to the balls. Still in shock, I drove back to Los Angeles, and once again locked myself in the studio. Recording The Album , and the sacrifices involved had become the story told in The Album itself.

The Album (Yeah, that's what I'm calling it), is a collection of musical moments, snapshots I took from this chapter of my life. From the happy days in “Half Moon Bay” to the road in “Written at a Reststop”, and through the breakup with “My Only Friend”, I share my journey with song. I left school, left home, left love and found something better than stability. I'm Ronnie Day and I don't know where I'm going next.
