I have discovered that I can make a 3-tier wedding cake for 50 in less than 5 hours. I hope I never have the need to do so again. :P

wow! How did you get such a last minute order?

I actually got the order thursday. The mother of the bride, Karen, is a good friend of Sal's from work, and her daughter was FINALLY getting married to the guy she's been seeing for more than a year. They've been planning the wedding for awhile, but the cake lady dropped out just this past week. Karen's had my cake before and instantly thought of me. :) So friday and yesterday I was running around getting supplies for it, and then yesterday I ended up in the ER for about 4 hours, and was doped to high heaven for at least 4 more. So I didn't get to start working on the cake until this morning. :P I do NOT want to try that again, though! LOL That was a lot of stress! The only things that saved my bacon were a) buying a tub of icing from Sam's Club, like I did for our wedding, and b) icing roses on a stick. Best invention ever! Those roses go so quickly! :) And the bride loved it, which made it all worthwhile.

Had it been anyone other than a long-time friend, it wouldn't have happened. :P
