I think these are a great interpretation of "empty nests" ;) Then again, wasn't that phrase brought about by the symbolism of baby birds leaving the bird nest? I do think so.
So, here's my empty nests!
Quite the work in progress. As you can see, they don't have eggs, or the bases attached yet. I'm working in phases and it seems to be the best method so far.

This is just PART of my work table. As you can see, making these nests is rather.. umm.. messy!! I'm not even going to show you the whole table, because the entire thing is filled up with various projects in-progress. I've put a lot of stuff away, too! You'd never know it though. So here's a shot of the current project anyway..
Phase 1 of the nests.. I know they look really a lot more 'natural' in this phase, but for practicality's sake, and for the strenght and durability of the product, I cannot leave them looking like this. They would fall apart while being worn and would catch of everything! But, they do look cute this way, don't they?
Completed nests, sans bird eggs! I really do love these!
So, there you have it! A little insight into what I do. :) I'll take more photos as I go along, since this is such a big project.
