My, it has been a long time since I've posted here, hasn't it? The trip I made to England last month rivaled even my first trip in satisfaction. Much thanks especially to tktiger and stu_ath for helping make the trip extra special ( Read more... )

I've been doing reasonably well. Ups and downs, mostly downs lately, but I do hope to have that sorted soon. Sorry about the really late reply. LiveJournal didn't bother to tell me you sent it and I'm not in the habit of looking at my own journal entries.

I just figured you were busy the last couple of months what with everything going on in London, like the G20 meeting.

He's back!

Certainly all go, city's been a bit of a mixed bag itself lately. Behave, London Town!

Whenever you plan a trip again, I'll read it!

Best,
Stu

LiveJournal notified me of this one! Things might yet be back to normal...maybe.

I have no idea when the next time I'll be in London. Nothing about my future is certain at all at the moment.

True, but most people have a pretty good idea what they will be doing for the next 6 months. All of my plans have so many contingencies attached to them that I dare not call them plans at all.

By way, what did you think of No.7 on your list?

I considered that one of the highlights of my trip. I had read about those rooms, but this was the first time I had actually seen them. I was surprised by how small the whole complex was and I was very interested to see who had rooms down there and who didn't.

Churchill, his wife and his closest advisers were the only people who had rooms there. There was a contingency plan to evacuate the government and the King to Canada is the Germans successfully invaded England.

In June 1940, General Arnold, the commander of the Army Air Corps, asked Boeing to develop a bomber that could hit Berlin from Keflavik, Iceland. It took them four years, but it was put into service as the B-29 Superfortress
