I just thought this was an interesting vid....very unique. I liked it a lot actually, which is strange b/c I don't even like this song. lol But the way they put it together was very interesting.
I'd be more impressed with her work if she hadn't used a series of clips from both my and dearratboy's vids (and probably others' as well), complete with our editing effects. She simply lifted entire sequences of clips and didn't bother to change a thing, except the music.
I don't mind people using downloaded vids to obtain their materials, but gee, I wish they'd at least put the clips in a different order, add their own effects and/or not use the clips that have obviously been altered by another vidder. Change the footage in some way, to make it their own, rather than putting the exact same footage to different music and saying, ooh, look what I did.
Yeah, I noticed that too. :S It's a shame, really. The idea behind it was good. I can't say anything about using clips from other people's vids b/c I do the same thing, since I only have three eps to get clips from. However, I try hard to use clips that aren't edited. The only time I used clips that were already edited was in my vid In Peices--I used bluemeany's concrete overcoat affair clips from her vid The Youtube Affair. But I asked her permission first and made sure I gave her the credit for those clips. Although, come to think of it, in the I want candy vid, some of the clips were done the same way as Jean9K did them in her vid Malchik Gey. That was rather copycat-ish of me...I should have been more original. I didn't think anything of it at the time but thinking about it now...yeah, I shouldn't have done that.
Like I said, I don't worry about people using clips from my vids. That's the nature of the web, once it's out there a work is pretty much considered public property. In essence I use the original footage in the same manner. I just get annoyed at the laziness in simply cropping a 30 second chunk out of someone else's vid, connecting it to a 20 second chunk out of yet someone else's vid, and connecting that to a 10 second chunk out of yet another person's vid - complete with the other vidders' effects - and calling it your own work

I can understand your sentiments. Vid plagiarism isn't much different than story plagiarism if you think about it. You know, after this conversation, I have a feeling that I won't be making any more vids until I get the dvd series so I can use my own clips. lol Now I feel guilty about all the other vids I've made...
