Yup, 4 states in one entry. That's how much happened in the wonderful plains states. With the exception of Omaha which looked like a pretty fun city, with an especially cool desert biodome at their zoo that we spotted from the road, there wasn't much to see besides cornfields. They did however have a few interesting road side oddeties in Nebraska like the Great Platt River Road Archway that we drove under in Kearney which was a much welcome burst of color on an otherwise muted landscape. Nebraskan's also took great pride in boasting the birthplace of kool-aid in Hastings; complete with a museum and everything. (Ohh Yeah!)
Iowa mostly just smelled of something unidentifiable that was burning in all the fields as we drove through the dark. By the time we reached the mid-west states I was more than ready to get home and see everyone again - especially at the prospect of having to pass through Gary, Indiana one final time which I have made very clear is just about my least favorite city on the planet. I'd take cornfields anyday over Gary but with some good tunes and conversation to keep us sane Chris and I finally hit the Michigan border on April 1st. The adventure was wrapping up, making way for another one to start!
