As we made our way to the back room of Purple Cafe, my suspicion that Lauren might have a clue about our scheming was happily disproved as I saw the shocked look on her face at the sight of her other friends. I was so excited to know that it was actually going to go off as planned. She, more than almost anyone I know, deserved a day just about her. Not only is she consistantly on top of making things wonderful for everyone else, but she's also a new mommy and so an afternoon sipping mimosas and orange blossom muscats hardly covered it. Which is why I was even more excited for the party that was to follow.
But...not before we made a brief stop in a strip mall of wineries a little off the beaten path to try out one I knew she had wanted to go to for a while.
Aside from wonderful Cabernets, Alexandria Nicole had this wonderful little room covered in white lights with a tasting bar and tables strewn haphazardly around the room with all variety of people sipping wine and listening to the sweet sounds of Jack Johnson. Heavenly, if you ask me.
We returned to the house to find all the rest of our lovely friends eager to ring in the big 27 with Lauren. We spent the next 8 or so hours, making sweet behind the back beer pong shots, motivating each other to master the art of cup flipping, dropping like it's hot, eating...a lot and taking various ridiculous pictures. One of our best nights...one that we recounted with lots of laughter and hang over food the next morning.
