I realize this is very Canada-centric, but in support of my f-list, I'm adding some cheers out to their countries, too! I just couldn't wait for the end of the day to post :)
Today is a very special day in Canadian sporting history. For the first time in three Olympics on our soil, a Canadian athlete has won a gold medal!
Cheers to Alexandre Bilodeau - men's moguls gold medallist!
Special shout outs to his teammates who also made the finals: Vincent Marquis (4th), Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau (5th) and Maxime Gingras (11th).
Coming in second was reigning Olympic champion from Australia Dale Begg-Smith with a little known American Bryon Wilson coming in a surprising 3rd.
Earlier, our first speed skating medal was won by Kristina Groves, a bronze, with Clara Hughes 5th and Cindy Klassen 14th in the 3,000m long track race.
The gold was won by the Czech Martina Sablikova followed by Germany's Stephanie Beckert.
Special mention for our German friends who cheered their men's luge winner Felix Loch and silver medallist David Moller.
Go Canada Go!
