happy birthday to dean smith, the winningest men's coach in college basketball history, who turned 75 today. dean, if you'd kept coaching, you'd have hit 1100 victories by now, but THE ROY would probably still be sans title, so i'm willing to make the trade.

i felt really bad for your boys last night; it was one of those games where carolina just, you know, i don't know - i thought, when we went up forty, "is this what it feels like to be duke?" it was inevitable. so now i owe you lunch and you owe me lunch. let's just go drinking instead.

i understand the freaked out-edness about losing u-hall, i really do; but remember that maryland moved out of cole field house and it's not the comcast center that's their problem this year - it's actually a really fucking intimidating place to play - and state moved out of reynolds and are actually *happier* in rbc. it's not necessarily a bad thing, and hey, tickets! TICKETS ARE ALWAYS GOOD.

BUT IT IS NOT U-HALL AND THAT MAKES ME WIBBLE A LITTLE. I think we'll be happier there, I do. I think it'll get more students in, while giving the alums a price break, and that's a win-win everywhere. I hope the students take advantage of it and actualy go. The bigger place is pointelss if they don't fill it. (I WILL GO DOWN THERE AND KICK PEOPLE I DONT THINK THEY GET THIS.)

You know I am always up for drinking ;)

And, also double plus good, two nights of dave to kick it off in september. WE SHOULD GO. (he's only played once at home since the band hit in big - he usually plays up here in nova and it's a "home" show - he only went back to cville the year they finished the football stadium for one. it was not their best - dave was totally nervous, but they were so overwhelmed it was adorable.)

I really do care about the sports and the game and all of that, I swear to you, but really it all goes out the window when I remember how AMAZINGLY PRETTY REYSHAWN IS. Dude. Dude. They can put ANYTHING they want on the back of his shorts and I will make time to read it.

Ahem.

Anyway, Florida = best thing to happen all day.

re the storming of the court. I am STILL pissed. It happened in 2003 when FSU beat Duke at home too, and in 99. Not quite like that. But seriously, jesus fuck, FSU was up the whole game, history shows they were going to storm the court. There was time *during the game* to up security. 5min to go in the game, hell one minute to go in the game. Hell.

All that said, Hamilton has a hella game plan for playing Duke & I'd be very happy if he just kept that game plan to himself. Teams like FSU & Geogetown are the teams that will give this Duke team trouble down the road. And FSU had a plan and they stuck to it and kept us on our asses for 30minutes of the game and played real hard the other ten.

But the storming of the court before the end of the game, and having to get starters off the court before games end for their safety. That shit needs to be over and done with. Make ACC wide policy similiar to what the SEC did.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on Quin.

okay, here's my question: they assessed a technical to the crowd for inappropriate celebration. if the crowd gets two technicals, do they all have to go home?

that said: it's well within florida state's rights to storm the court if they feel like being, you know, assholes; BUT if the acc is going to LET people storm the court and not fine them like the SEX, they have to MAKE SURE that security is good enough that a.) the game is not interrupted and b.) all the players are safe before anyone who is not with either team hits half court.

it's like the refereeing shit that's been going on all season; i have a feeling that this year in the off season, the acc's going to be *changing* some things.

i'll definitely talk about quin later on; the more i read "we asked him to resign last year, blah blah blah crazycakes, blah blah blah emotional problems," the more it just makes me really sad. and i don't even LIKE quin snyder!

I may be wrong about this but I think that technical was actually assessed against the FSU bench for too many players on the court. The technical wasn't charged to the crowd. But sending the crowd sent home after two Ts would be comedy of the highest order.

Points A & B are the two crucial ones for me. And the ACC should be fining teams actual cash money for the storming the court nonsense (and I include Duke fans in that for running on the court after VaTech). But really, I'd settle for your points A & B being completely addressed.

Change would be so good. The ACC has an assload of issues that need to be addressed in the off season. If it doesn't happen this off season then things will only get worse next year.

yeah, if by "things will only get worse next year", you mean "there will actually be fistfights on court", then yes. something needs to be done.

nnn, basketball, i love reading your posts on it. and you're making me fall in love with THE ROY which is not okay because there is room for only one college coach of my soul and that is always and forever jimmy b. THE ROY can be the college coach of my rib cage or something, okay?

syracuse plays depaul tomorrow and i am seriously considering some voodoo on my end because sweet christ on a tiny pony the orangemen are no longer eating the boards, they're fellating them on the way down. god. BOYS. WHAT THE HELL.

as for who's going to win it all, i'm going to make a hail mary prediction out of nowhere and say michigan state will come back for it. much as i hate the spartans, and god knows i do, they're looking like they might pull it together. or, you know, join syracuse in their circle-jerk of suck.

for years and years, THE ROY was the default college basketball coach of my own rib cage, while he was at kansas; THE ROY understands that sometimes these things happen, and would be honored to be the default basketball coach of your rib cage.

just tell me what i can light on fire for you, because I WILL DO IT. i would like nothing more than to see syracuse make a surprise run for it at all here at the end, and if i have to set goats on fire, i will.

michigan state, huh? i shall take this under advisement. at the moment, i'm leaning towards gonzaga, but only if they pull a good bracket. either way, can we both agree it's not going to be memphis? GODDAMN, CALIPARI, YOU SUCK, GO BACK TO THE NBA.

if it wasn't the end of the season, i might make a bobby frasor icon. or perhaps one of wes. kickthebeat March 2 2006, 05:49:41 UTC
so i had to watch the game on mute because i was on the phone with iowa (cubs fan, though, so partially acceptable) and couldn't call you to be like, DUDE, DAVID WAS ON TONIGHT, and that is nothing but a good thing. also, so glad catholic school taught bobby the importance of being MORE than just a fucking hotass. i know it's important to me, but that's just me, i'm only a basketball fan by proximity and seriously, I would buy that boy so much booze and even try hard not to sleep with him.

and before i forget, the ROY's suit: hella hot. the ROY's tie: asjdhsakjahsld i almost fell off the couch.

I AM NERVOUS ABOUT SATURDAY'S GAME. I DON'T LIKE THIS BEING NERVOUS ABOUT BASKETBALL THING, IT'S UNSETTLING.

they showed wes on the bench at the end of the game, and he was smiling, and i almost died. minervacat March 2 2006, 12:24:59 UTC
did you see david's mama up in the stands? she was so excited i thought she was going to explode. and then he CRIED! after the game, on the local news, they were showing highlights and david cried! and then i cried. because i'm a big girliepants like that.

i don't know which gangsta from chicago wrote bobby and letter and said, "yo, if you don't step it up offensively, i am going to put you in concrete and drop you in lake michigan," but i am certainly glad they did so. DAMN. that boy is really turning out to be something else.

I AM NERVOUS ABOUT SATURDAY, TOO, I PROMISE THIS IS A NORMAL STATE AND ONLY SUBSIBES AFTER VICTORY. last duke game i drank a 40 in the first half and spent the second half drunkenly lying on the floor screaming at the tv, and it's pretty much the only way to go.

did you get my text about virginia being efficient? i got the hiccups, i laughed so hard at that.
