Thursday night I went to Reggie's with Robert to see his old roommates (Mike and Rivka)' band (Mad Happy).
Reggies is a pretty cool venue. I had never even heard of it, but I guess it is pretty new. It is all the way in the south loop (when do I EVER go there?) near Chinatown. But anyway, it is huge and awesome. The space where bands play is pretty big, and there's an upstairs seated area with lounge chairs and tables, and then there's a record store attached and past that is a big bar (that has delicious quesadillas).
A bunch of bands played before Mad Happy, but the only one that really stood out was this Nerd-rap group called Moon Patrol (Robert!!!! I found them on Myspace! I clearly have better searching skills than you do. They are here). Anyway, I love them. They're hilarious, and you should check out the music on their MySpace.
There was this other band that was pretty good as well, but they have a long name that I can't remember, and Robert said he downloaded a few of their songs and the recording wasn't as good as the live show.
Mad Happy was great! And they were really nice too. I looked up their music video, and you can watch it herrrre:
The concert ran really late and I totally forgot I had a funeral to go to in the morning. The wife of one of my cousins passed away. I probably met her more than once, but I only have one memory of the woman. Those of you who were at my mom's funeral may remember her as well. After my mom's funeral, we had friends and family over to my aunt's house, and I was upstairs with my friends for the majority of it. She came upstairs crazy drunk and looked startled to see people up there, so I was just like, "umm.... hi." and she said, "Oh, it's ok, your mom told me I could look around up here." Haha, nice.
Anyway, yeah, so I went to her funeral with Alyssa on Friday morning. It was out in the suburbs and we got crazy lost so we were late. There was a luncheon afterwards, during which Alyssa and I realized that our entire family is absolutely insane. Now we know where we get it from.

It is Spavone's Halloween party, and I probably won't know anyone there except for her, so yeah. I need a date/dates. FREE BOOZE.
