My body has betrayed me.

A year ago I noticed I was starting to get some belly fat, which was weird for me. So I started working out, walking more at work, being more active in general. I gained weight.

I started taking very long walks in the evenings and trying to do at least a mile on my lunch break. I started doing situps and pushups and lifting weights every day. I gained weight.

I started eating lots of raw fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I gained weight.

I joined the gym and started working on the elliptical and strengthening my core. I gained weight.

I read up on weight training myths and facts and started lifting significantly heavier weights. I gained weight.

I focused on eating lean protein and cut simple carbs down to almost nothing. I gained weight.

It has been a year since I started trying to lose weight and build muscle, and all I have done is put on 15 pounds of fat. I went to the gym tonight and saw my back fat bulging out of my top and my thighs jiggling under my pants. These clothes used to fit me.

I have asthma and bad knees and a dead metabolism and it seems all I can manage is to get fat slower.
