"Mommy, who is she?"

On Wednesday we took the kids to McDonalds. The one with the playplace, across the street from the school. We go early to avoid crowds and the embarassment of shouting at other people's children. There was a mom there with 4 loud kids (could tell they were homeschoolers from a mile away) that had hers in the playplace when I started bringing mine out. We stand there watching them for a minute, as a dozen kids swarm the thing. She mentions having four, I tell her I have 21 today. We laugh.

I stand there in my bright purple vintage hat, with a whistle around my neck, periodically yelling at someone, "Zak, don't block the slide! Jaelin, no hitting! Joshua, let the girls in!" and one of the homeschool kids comes over and leans on his mom, watches we for a minute, and says, in a voice full of wonder, "Mommy, who is she?"

Yup, I'm pretty awe-inspiring.
