So, while at work today, I got into a discussion about the war between Israel and the Hezbollah, as well as views on Islam as compared to American culture with the janitor and two of the truck drivers. As much of a beginning to a joke as that may sound, it actually happened. After I left to go finish my duties on the dock, the janitor found me in the break room and asked if I was offended by anything that was said. I told her everything was cool, i just had things to do. She asked what I thought about the wars, I told her, then she asked if I believed in god. What a strange thing to ask at the post office, I thought. I mean, sure, let's talk about the wars, I don't care, but asking religious preference? Just kinda struck me as odd. Anyway, I told her, and she told me I was wrong. I gave her a funny look, and she explained herself. I listened, resisting the temptation to stop her and explain why a) I'm not wrong and b) why anything she just told me has little to no effect on my beliefs, but I resisted and let her continue. After she finished, I politely told her that "it's nothing against anyone or their religious preference, I just have no use for it."
She continued on a little further, then told me I was "a nice young man, and a positive experience." I have no idea what that means, but I'm gonna go with "that's a good thing." So all you naysayers and non-believers can suck it. If a 50+ year old right-wing extremist can find me as "a nice young man and a positive expereince", maybe there's something wrong with you that you need to take a look at and remedy.
That is all...... for now.
