She's sitting in a field of butterflies- blue, red, pink, yellow- their wings flashing as they flit around her.
She holds out her hand and giggles as she feels the feather-light touch of its feet. The wings of this one are a metallic green.
'I've lost my wings. I want them back. Can you help me, please?'
The butterfly grows larger, wrapping her in its wings and then disappearing in a flash of green light.
She wakes up, blinking at the weird dream and looking around her room. Something's weird about it- when did she have orange walls- didn't she...? Oh, of course, her brother decorated this room. She had just moved in a few months ago.
That dream had been so realistic. And it would've been so nice if it had been real. A life as a goddess, a girlfriend, somewhere far away from Edmonton... yeah, if only things like that really happened. The pounding on her door brought her back from her daydream. "Ori! Get up! It's past ten, you need to get a job! You're going to be a failure all your life if you keep going at this rate!"
She rolled out of bed, sighing as she pulled on her clothes. Another day of tedium, another round in the eternal conflict with her parents...
If only that dream had been real.
