Drum stick dropper...
In true STaG tradition I dropped something tonight,... as far as I can remember, it was milk I was good at dropping but this happened to be a drum stick, and by dropped, you really could say threw.
I don't really do that often, and most of the time it ony goes a short way, like on the ground below you, or at worst, you'd have to reach, and maybe stop playing to get it,.. this particular stick though coursed it's way through the air, spinning vertically and then, via the hinge on the large perspex cage encompassing the drum kit and myself, launched itself into the gathered congregation... oops. hehe. For a brief second I considered continuing on Def Leppard style, but since it was such a freakish and unlikely event I mostly just laughed a lot, stood up mid-song, went and retrieved said stick (by walking around the back and then through the rest of the crew, who all kept playing) and rather sheepishly looked at everyone like I was retarded, well, I thought it was funny anyway,... at least I didn't actually hit anyone, and Murray was nice enough to hand it back to me,...
I'm not sure exactly how it happened,.. it was my right hand stick. Since I use double kick now the hi-hat is a little bit (three or four inches) further away from me than it used to be, and while playing the afore mentioned hi-hat I don't think I got quite enough of it and rather than bouncing up I just flicked it and because my natural reaction is to then move my hand back up again for the next one, I obviously got more of a piece of it passing it on the way back up, and not ready for that I let go of it and it kept goin, heh, oh well,.. at least I didn;t actually hit anyone..
