Neon Hand III: We Graduated, Now What?
Either you have, will, or know someone who has graduated from college and then sunk into an immediate depression. There's looming debt, the wonderful feelings that can only come from unemployment, and the realization that you justm got a degree in something that requires another degree to do anything legitimate with it. Ahh. . . do you smell that college graduate? It's called life after school and it's real.
On june 15th, I will walk in a ceremony that will make those in attendance believe that I am actually graduating. In reality, I still have to make up an incomplete in addition to another 4 credits that I will do over the summer. But with that aside, I am fooling my parents and extended family into believing that I am graduating on June 15th. Graduations suck. There is no way around that fact. Some would even argue that it is more stimulating to wait in line at the DMV. So instead of letting the inevitability of really long speeches and student appreciation awards that will most definitely not have my name written on them get me down, I'm going to have a party.
The third installment of Neon Hand will be on the night of my graduation, and it is dedicated to all those who have recently graduated and don't know what to do now.
When: June 15th, 8pm
Where: Queen Alberts (Bernie's Mom's Karaoke Bar/Restaurant) 3506 W Irving Park Rd
the place is closed on sundays to the public, so we will have it ourselves.
did you notice that it's a karaoke bar? This means you can perform on the mic!
Bring a little poetry/spoken word/literature/music to perform (everyone must read something, doesn't have to be original, doesn't have to be solo. Doesn't have to be good, either. We're not picky.)
ok not everyone, but try...it'll be fun
Theme: Graduation (preschool graduation counts!) and the emotions that surround these joyous events.
You don't have to be 21 to get in, but you do have to be 21 to buy booze at the bar.
As always, your baked goods and other treats are always welcome.
There will be a suggested donation of 5$ at the door. no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The money is going to support of the Team FSU (fuck shit up) softball team. We need money for player fees, league fees, bats, gloves, and balls.
