I fought Royal Mail

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a book from Amazon, I've never done this before and will endevour not to do so again. It was very easy, the obscure book I wanted was there and I could spend too much money doing it. (It also destroys the emotional value of books and I like bookshops but that's another rant for another day).

Anyhow I was very excited and checked the post every evening to see if it had arrived and last night it had. Unfortunately the postman had bent it in half to force it through our letter box. it was a hard back book, it's pretty much ruined. they've done it with other stuff too. last year all my birthday cards were creased down the middle, all of them even the ones that fitted through the letter box, some of our Christmas cards, all sorts of stuff. It's pretty galling especially as there's a gap under the door cards could be pushed through.

So I phoned up. I was made to jump through many many hoops before I could speak to a person. The person however was very nice, apologised, passed a multiple complaint to our postmans line manager and arranged a refund for my book for me.

I didn't want a refund, I wanted my nice shiney book, but they were very good about it.
