Henry Louis Gates
I am a big fan of Henry Louis Gates. I cyber stalked him for awhile. I showed parts of his documentaries to my class. I wrote him fan mail.
yes, I wrote a famous academic fan mail No, he didn't write back. :(
So he gets arrested for breaking into his own home, or what is now called 'housing while black'. This would be hilarious if whenever I read an article about it, there are TONS, I mean sometimes nearly HALF, of all comments siding with the cops.
You assholes CLEARLY do not know who this man is. This man is a 5'5 older man who limps with a cane and TUCKS HIS POLO SHIRT INTO HIS SLACKS. What, the cop called for backup because the crotchety short elderly black man was going to hit him with his cane? Seriously?
And the comments, oh my god, it's a good thing I'm on blood pressure meds because I think I would have passed out by now.

Everyone, behold the product of AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. A black man so stupid that he still doesn't understand he was arrested for disorderly conduct, not robbery.
His big ugly mouth flapping open, his hands in handcuffs, what's new? Not teaching at Harvard! That's where people like him end up! People that need help on the admissions test, help with reading and math while he's there.
Help. Help. Help.
Help the black man. Help him.
Help him understand that his neighbors were trying to help him. Help him understand that if he didn't behave in a disorderly manner he wouldn't have been arrested.
Help him. The black man needs lots and lots and lots of help.

Enough of throwing down the race card ... we have a Black President now, so that tired old ship has sailed. The guy got indignant like any self-important Harvard professor does, pulled the old "Do you know who I am?" routine, and got arrested as a result.
Gates does not sound like a stable person in the police report.

READ THE REPORT!! You will see how race has nothing to do with it - and everything to do with another over educated, snippy ivy leaguer who thinks that his crap doesn't smell. Cambridge officers do a great job which is why I love living there - and they did a great job arresting this race-card-playing man.
The police would never fabricate a police report to make themselves sound good! The report doesn't lie! The report paints a picture of a belligerent, angry black man yelling about racism!
Personally, I applaud the man for not whacking the officer over the head with his cane and telling him to get off his lawn. Fuckers.
