Driving back from the store this evening, I saw them.
The crows have come back to the city for another winter. And I do not exaggerate when I say there were HUNDREDS spread across the darkening sky and cloistered in the trees. It was eerily quiet, save for an occasional caw. I love this time of year. There's something so darkly romantic about the black trees and violet skies and crows and all the leaves scattered in drifts of gold. Eeep. It's enough to make a girl write bad poems.
And then I came home and unloaded my Tofurky and other fixin's for Thursday. I'm baking two pies, pumpkin and pecan, and we're having mashed potatoes, the aforementioned tofurky, cheesy carrots, stuffing, probably something bread-like, and maybe a salad.
I like eating.
