Since I became a vegetarian and moved out to the country, I just might be running with that herd soon. Although, the grass in her mouth looks more complex than what I am thinking ... especially with her lips are so crimson. Something is inside her head that is not right. You see it in her eyes too.. I think something is entirely wrong ... you should have made the clouds more fierce looking in the background. However your paintings are aways about the subtleties ... and I may have caught on to the wrong subtleties. The deer are really nice!
With the second painting ... that poor girl. She stands with such dignity and courage. I have to wonder the crime or deceit is behind this sad story. The axe bearer is so calm and at ease, yet there is no anger or vengeance in her eyes. Just an act that must be done. Bone chillingly calm. I do how they are merely playing an act of the legend.
I think I like the second painting better. The lighting and depth are more dynamic. I love the trees and the clouds. There is more communication with the second one and it almost speaks on the interrelation of the two characters.
Of course I love all your paintings. It is no flopping rubber chicken ... but just as well.
