Pissed off!
So, the last few days back at work have not been the best days of my life.
For starters, on Wednesday, I was the only girl working and the new guys enjoyed acting like I was incompetent. Despite the fact that I've been working at Oade's for about 3 years. I know what's going on, OK? On top of this, a bunch of liquor reps were in on Wednesday, and liquor reps have a reputation of being chauvinist pigs. These ones were no different.
Today, though, really pissed me off. I got there and immediately started putting away the wine order. Kristy and I chit chatted a little while we were both working, then we got customers and she went behind the cash register. I finished the wine and started pricing beer. I did that for a while and went up to the cash register to take a quick break. Kristy was there stocking the shots, so we talked. A customer came up to sit stuff down at my register, so I thought I would wait to go back to the beer until after he was done. Two minutes later, my manager comes out and says that the owner had been watching on the cameras and if we didn't get back to work he was going to send us home.
Oh, I was so pissed.
a) I was waiting for a customer.
b) except for the times when I go sit behind the counter, I don't get a break. I don't smoke, so I don't get the cigarette break every half hour like everyone else. Also, my "breaks" still allow me to wait on customers.
And you know what, I work hard. There are days when I've done so much shit there that I'm exhausted. But no one notices that. No, they notice your 5 minute break.
And they only notice that that is a problem if you have a vagina.
Also, there's like this silent war between night shift and day shift. Night shift thinks day shift does nothing, and most of the time, night shift really does do nothing. So today, two guys on day shift spent the whole afternoon organizing our back room (which, let me tell you, is no easy task) and when the night manager got there tonight, all he said was "so whichever one of you used all that water in the back room needs to remember to dump the mop bucket." He has a list of rules the day shift better not break or else he'll get really pissy. Dumping the mop bucket is one of them. And yeah, that's fine, but those guys worked SUPER hard and all the night manager could do was bitch. I don't know. It just pisses me off.
