The Letter (2)
This Is Your Life
It Really Is Pink
Take Me Back
THE LETTER (2)
John:
-It's gonna be light soon.-
April:
-So it is...-
John:
-I'm gonna kill him.-
April:
-No, you're not. Wait until you're older.-
John:
-I hate when people say that to me!-
April:
-Ya know what? Don't wait.-
John:
-Oh gawd... I don't feel good. I knew I should've never mixed Hostess and Debbie...-
April:
-I gotta go use the facilities. You see a bush around here?-
John:
-I think we might be the last person for miles...-
Narrator:
APRIL walks off. JOHN watches her go.-
John:
-Maybe I could at least see her ass...-
Narrator:
CALEB approaches them carrying the tire.
John:
-You found one?-
Caleb:
-It only took all night.-
John:
-Do ya know how to fix it?-
Caleb:
-I have a feeling you do.-
John:
-Well, I have taken Driver's Ed four times.-
Caleb:
-You wanna fix the tire?-
Narrator:
JOHN walks off. CALEB follows. APRIL enters, stops when she sees ANDREW.
April:
-Oh! I see you've found a tire.-
Andrew:
-No, he did.-
April:
-I suppose we should let the men do the work. I have lived my whole life in Texas and I've never been to the Gulf. Never seen the ocean.-
Andrew:
-I've only been once. So it's not that much better.-
April:
-With him?-
Andrew:
Yes.-
April:
-What's it like to be loved by him?-
Andrew:
-You know.-
April:
-Do I? From his letter it feels like you were very kind to him. If you know what I mean.-
Narrator:
CALEB and JOHN fix the tire.
Caleb:
-I'm sorry we couldn't've met sooner.-
John:
-You are?-
Caleb:
-We could've ganged up on your dad. You don't hate him too much, do you?-
John:
-And why shouldn't I? He left... my mom... he left me... he left you.-
Caleb:
-Yea, I guess...-
John:
-But you don't hate him?-
Caleb:
-Uh uh...-
John:
-Hm... Your wife let me feel her up.-
Caleb:
-You remind me of your father.-
John:
-Do. Not. Say. That.-
Caleb:
-You know, you don't have to care about anything, you know... You don't. It's easy.-
John:
-You make me sound heartless.-
THIS IS YOUR LIFE
Caleb:
How old are you John?
John:
-Seventeen.-
Caleb:
Seventeen years have come and gone.
And what is there to show for it?
The times you didn't go for it
are all a part of you.
This is your life, John, this is your life.
I once went to the bay with a boy that took fear away.
He left one day and had a son.
Now I've turned sick and just begun
to see the rising sun.
That is what life is, that is life.
A life is a single sunrise,
A night that goes on an on...
The moment comes you realize that all the nights and mornings
will soon be gone...
So we gather them together
so to see the things we've done.
And find that all we've lived for
is a little less than won...
Except for the love, John, except for the love...
Here we are at the sea
planting the roots of a family tree.
With you and me, kid, holding on
to what we've found has weathered stong
And made it through the night...
This is your life, John.
A life is a little story
of dragons, knights and kings.
Who love and who fight,
who win and lose and learn to use their wings
To fly...
And that is a life, John.
You have a life to live.
So live your life, John.
'Cuz this is your life!
IT REALLY IS PINK
Andrew:
-Looks great.-
Caleb:
-That? I didn't do a thing.-
John:
-Don't... don't do that... Don't.-
Andrew:
-Sorry.-
John:
-S... Sorry? You didn't say it. Who's sorry?-
Andrew:
-I'm sorry.-
John:
-Don't get ahead of yourself.-
Caleb:
-I'm sick of driving... Well, being driven.-
John:
-Me too. I had to drive all the way from Ohio to Texas. I should be incarcerated for that.-
Andrew:
-Yes, you should. Why didn't you give me an earfull?-
John:
-Whatever. Yes, no?-
Andrew:
-Yes.-
John:
-Ok. Hey! Wait... for me?-
Narrator:
JOHN follows after ANDREW.
Caleb:
-All that I wanted...-
April:
-Can't think that way. Get in the truck.-
Caleb:
-Ok.-
April:
-It's tiime to drive.-
Caleb:
-Please. Just tell me what to do...-
April:
-You'll see two pedals...-
Caleb:
-Ok.-
April:
-Press one of them.-
Caleb:
-OK!-
April:
-Get in.-
Narrator:
They all begin to climb into the car. CALEB stops, touches APRIL on the back, turns her around to see the sun beginning to rise... One by one, everyone comes out of the car, standing still. Surprised, and a bit amazed.
John:
-It really is... pink...-
TAKE ME BACK
Caleb:
Take me back
to the sea,
Take me back,
I was younger.
Let me sail with the sun in my eyes...
Take me back,
take me in,
to the place
we were children
where the breezes were cool, tides were high...
April:
Take me back
all the tears.
Take me back
twenty years.
Nothing mattered
but the sun, and the earth, and the sky...
Andrew:
Take me back
all the years.
Bring me home,
ever [?].
Let it be just the same as before...
Caleb and Andrew:
Fill my veins with the sun,
Let me fall in it's glory
Fill my heart with a song I know...
(+ April)
Letting go
all the fights,
Letting go
endless nights.
Nothing matters.
John:
Nothing matters...
April, Andrew and Caleb:
Just the sun, and the earth, and the sky...
John:
And the sky!
April, Andrew, Caleb and (John):
Let me sail. (Let me sail!)
Let me rise. (Oh, let me rise!)
Let me live (Let me live)
Caleb:
'Til tomorrow!
April, Andrew, Caleb and (John):
Give me wings (Give me wings!)
Let me rise (Oh, let me rise!)
Take me home (Take me home)
To the skies!
All:
Take me back,
Take me in,
Let me live 'til tomorrow.
Let me stand with the sun in my eyes!
Andrew and April:
Take me back,
All the tears!
Caleb and John:
Take me back,
all these years!
Andrew and April:
Take me back,
all my fears!
Caleb and John:
Take me back,
all those years!
Caleb:
Take me back
twenty years...
Nothing mattered.
Andrew:
Nothing mattered...
April:
Nothing mattered....
John:
Nothing mattered...
Caleb:
Just the sun, and the earth, and the sky...
Take me back
to the sea,
Take me home
to the ocean...
Let me me sail to the sun...
All:
In the morning....
Narrator:
The end...
